Total Plastic Ban in Maharashtra

Maharashtra government has taken a right decision of banning plastic items in the state but the scope of this ban should have been carefully selected and implemented. Banning carry bags and thermocol items like disposable plates & cutlery items, boxes etc is totally justified. However, government should have considered issues based on habbits and convenience. Carry bags is totally justified but garbage collection bags should be allowed as these bags allow convenient way to collate garbage and dispose off. Most hospitals require segregation of waste into different colored bags for appropriate disposal, hence, I strongly suggest that low gauge, black garbage bags should be allowed. Like wise, manufacture and sale of plastic coated terpaulines and rain cover films should also be allowed. Likewise plastic bags for factory level packaging should be permitted so that material distribution from whole seller to retails can be carried out efficiently. BMC should install PET / Plastics bottles collections bins every 100 meters so that residents can dispose off recyclable bottles. Companies like Amazon and Flipkart are causing tremendous damage to ecology by by use if excessive packaging material for distribution of goods, Instead, they should change their distribution model by engaging post offices for point of distribution. These practices are followed in developed countries where in items ordered at Tesco can be collected at nearest Tesco outlet instead of home delivery. Government shoudl have considered entire eco system and all stake holders and then implemented plastic ban in a more realistic manner rather than TOTAL BAN. more

Plastic and thermocoal Ben should start from manufacturing lavel. Villages has worst problems. Plastic recycling should be encouraged with easy soft loan and land at cheaper rate. Mobile recycling plants can be use for smaller villages. more
This ban will not work. It is not practical to enforce it. Only politics has been used. If enforced as envisaged, everybody would pay fines or even go to jail. more
I hope u all will agree with me that invention of Plastic is a boon but rampant mindless use has created such situation. Recyclable plastic should be taken into use with proper outlet for the dispose of for recycling . Banning will not help. Replacement should be the solution . People will not obey and another way to corruption will emerge. more
I totally agree with Mr. Manke and Mr. Chandhok. Have any of you smelt a garbage bin which did not have a plastic bag lining it? If you have not, please do so, you will see how much bacteria and filth it will cause. People will become more ill and the stench will be deplorable. I too suggest that plastic carry bags can be banned completely but not a blanket ban. The US has the most efficient plastic recycling plants and we should have these too. Why not line the roads with plastic mixed with bitumin to make them stronger? Why not bind the plastic with cement to make stronger walls for buildings, etc. Tarpaulin is too expensive because it needs wax which is made from petroleum products, I know as my husband was in this field years ago but it was just not feasible with plastic covering. I also heard thru the grapevine that the ministry had asked for a donation from the plastic manufactures who refused and this is the natija!! A Star Plus Chetulalji issue???? more
My son buying lot of yarn cones for use in his factory. the individual cone is packed in thin plastic to protect from dust etc. Since banned plastic bag is received from the yarn producing companies, How he can stop the same receiving to avoid penalties of storing the same. more
