80 year old Bhure Lal ji, Chairman of EPCA. Rest of the babus are just doing time making up numbers and waiting for rains to celebrate. Bhure Lal ji is wanting implementation of odd even. LocalCircles should conduct poll and if there is support, let the govt go ahead. Attached his letter. more

Dust from Road is a major contributor of pollution. more
Majority of pollution is due to dust and all around construction work going on. Even an illiterate person can see the amount of dust on roads which creates breathing and other problems. Still organisations like CSE, Courts etc take an easy way out by blaming vehicular traffic for pollution. If this is the case, why all DTC buses and public transport was shifted to CNG. It is just shortsightedness of people in authority and courts that we are not able to reduce pollution in Delhi. Instead of scrapping 10 year old diesel and 15 year old petrol vehicles, there should be a policy to compulsarily get them converted to Electric vehicle. This will lower down the cost of conversion as well as resistance to change by ordinary people. more
Odd-even scheme may not be able to reduce the pollution significantly as we are not able to understand the factors causing pollution. If the vehicular pollution is the topic then most of the vehicular pollution is due to undisciplined driving, inefficiency of the traffic police, corruption, dust on the sides of the road, traffic jams, city buses etc. All these factors are due to negligence of the stakeholders and as a easy route we are considering adaption of odd even scheme. The passengers who are habituated of using their own cars, would have two vehicles or use taxi on he day when they are not allowed to ply the vehicle. The priority need for the Government and other stakeholders to understand their own responsibilities which are implementable but are not being undertaken due to lethargic attitude of the staff. Why the Government has not been able to discipline the city buses who stop the vehicle just in the middle of the road hampering preceding vehicle to take over, close all right hane turns by constructing U-turns, making slips road for left turns. In fact Delhi can get all red light dispensed with without much of the budget requirement as there are numerous fly overs, wide roads etc. requiring only little bit re-engineering of roads. Approach to any CNG station should be through a side road or service road. Work out on bottlenecks causing traffic jams. more

Much of Delhi pollution is due to hostile attitude of Delhi Police towards public transport. They don't let buses run on their routes in the name of traffic jams, VIP movements, etc., while allowing private vehicles to run freely on any roads, making bus transport unreliable and resulting in increase of cars, bikes on roads. more
