Transformation is not visible in Delhi

No doubt there has been bountiful rains - record breaking rains, but the fault line in the roads have been exposed like never before. There was a road cave-in right under IIT- Bridge which even 2 months after temporary filling has not been done properly with heavy vehicles treading/avoiding going over that fill. On Monday-13th September, a 6 foot portion of road in Adhchini...just 1.5 kms ahead of the IIT-Bridge cave in...went down suddenly under a DTC New Cluster AC bus...a scooty and a bike adjacent to the bus also went down in a 3 ft cave in. Luckily it did not cave in creating hole but just a big 3 ft dip. Scooty rider and bike rider were saved though they went under the bus. PWD work is shoddy, entire stretch of road Sri Aurobindo Marg from IIT Flyover till Adhchini going towards Mehrauli is faulty. There was some work which was done last year by PWD and some OVJ project:Contractor after which the manholes were left in middle of the road some bulging and some in depression state which has become a nightmare especially for two wheeler riders. On top of that the PWD or its contractors have created craters on bridges intending to pave a new road but this craters are a danger to two wheelers. Try coming down from flyover near NSIC - Okhla...the moment you come to base of the bridge towards Kalkaji...your vehicle will wobble. Does the Government even bother? Both State and Central Government are busy fighting and blaming each other, should not the Court punish the M.P of those area imposing heavy fines on them? more

This is a public Forum where we bring to the Notice, Exert Pressure to get the right quality for which Payment is mde,THEN WE FOLLOW UP DILIGETLY as said, "There is thus no sustained public pressure on the authorities strong enough to get the public works done strictly according to laid down standards" - by Mr. SKS. Thank you S.R.N.for making us aware of what is happening when we the Public don't keep our eyes open. more
The whole system of govt, contractors and suppliers are corrupt from top to down. more
Totally agree. It's time the citizens demand accountability from our representatives. The politicians almost seem to be attending a non-stop 'party' ever since independence!! more
This state of affairs is nothing new in Delhi Mumbai and in many other cities and towns of India. Situation is worse in smaller urban and semi urban colonies. Need not mention villages and colonies where no infrastructure for such seasonal travails exists. And our woes and groans are religiously repeated year after years. But it is amusing how after the event not only authorities but we ourselves forget all about it. Public authorities pay a lip service by doing some shoddy repairs and all of us naturally get busy about our chores. There is thus no sustained public pressure on the authorities strong enough to get the public works done strictly according to laid down standards irrespective of corrupt and unethical practices. The other important aspect is public participation and oversight to bring to the notice of authorities about the quality of worK WHEN IT IS BEING DONE. Public participation is easier with the help of retired persons with varied experiences who should act as agents of change. They have the time and resources to do it. more
While the state Govt. political leadership is busy out of state, MLA and Municipal Councillors of the affected area along with the PWD should be made responsible for the poor maintenance of the road. M.P. of the area may not be blamed for poor roads. more
