MSEDCL should provide 24 X 7 power supply

MSEDCL does not have the required capacity to supply 24 X 7 power to Navi Mumbai residents from Vashi to Panvel. This has been happening for the last 30 years and it is high time the Maharashtra Government understands the need for changing the Power Distributor in Navi Mumbai from MSEDCL to another player like Reliance or TATA Power. TATA Power will supply cheaper power and also insulate Navi Mumbai by supplying 24 X 7 power for Navi Mumbai from Vashi to Panvel.

MSEDCL has been resorting to load shedding and irregular power cuts in Khanda Colony Sector 9. The residents have been suffering and the situation does not seem to improve. There was a power cut on 9th May 2017 from 7.30 a.m.to 10.00 a.m and again on 12th May 2017 from 7.00 p.m. to 8.45 p.m. and 10.00 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. On 13th May 2017, there was a power cut from 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. and again from 11.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. and again from 8.35 p.m. to 9.45 p.m. These irregular power cuts disturbs the residents work schedule and they suffer financial loss.

MSEDCL has been torturing the residents over the last 30 years despite paying all their bills regularly and that too well before the due date. Load shedding is not the solution and electricity generation is the need of the hour.

As a result of such power cuts, the following are the problems faced by the residents:-
1. Children and senior citizens cannot cope up with the heat and suffocation and suffer from various ailments.
2. Costly vegetables, fruits, milk, batter and other perishables etc stored in the refrigerator get spoiled leading to tremendous losses.
3. The mobile phones conk off and the Internet connection gets disrupted and communication is cut off leading to severe inconvenience.
4. Digitization goes for a toss as payments cannot be made online or from the mobile.
5. The age old practice of installing generators/inverters does not solve the issue as this leads to pollution on account of release of more gases and depletes the ozone layer and deprives the city and country of earning carbon credits.

We appeal to the authorities to kindly take up the matter with MSEDCL immediately and the Maharashtra Government and get this resolved permanently. These power cuts destroy an upcoming Smart City- Navi Mumbai. more

Maharashtra state has resources at its disposal ....I am referring to private players .....it could be true that say in Panvel and other nearby locations MSEDCL is not able to supply the power for reasons which could be fair ...in that scenario it would be appropriate that the government of the state evaluates the actual and the projected capacity (raigad district is growing) of electricity and whether MSEDCL would be able to deliver on the growing requirement ...else the state government should get in other players ....service sector is very critical and the best way is to partner in terms of PPP model where I feel they (the power)....it is quiet appropriate for the people to express their frustrations on MSEDCL more
Why do we pay for services not provided to us! if they claim to say that AMC has to be carried out okay, but, cost of this is already considered in unit rate charged to the consumers. Once upon a time Maharashtra was lending power to neighboring states of Karnataka & Gujarat. Today we are in pathetic position because we could not continue the good work done by Britishers & our own TATA. They had vision for all states & cities, which our illiterate & corrupt politicians don't have. If now we don't act only GOD will be our saviour for our next generation's future. more
Maharashtra Govt. probably needs to think the way suggested not only for Navi Mumbai or any urban area but for all the towns and interior villages where power cut duration ranges from 6 to 12 hours (sometimes 16 hours). On 14 May 2017 at 09:14, Vaidya Nathan wrote: > more
