GST

Dear friends, we should also understand that all over world, and majority of fund in budget comes from indirect taxes only, and that is GST. if we avoid this or dont like to pay, how come govt can pay to soldiers who defend our boarders, and all necessary day to day life necessities. Instead to opposing to GST, we should ask government about accountability of GST. YES that is more important more

You are right Dedhia-provided the tax money is utilised for the welfare of the people. To-day--in effect-- 60% is used for the salaries and perks of the employees who are supposed to serve us. It is a case of the servant eating away everything while the owner starves. Are you opposing all hikes from 7th pay commission and advocating REDUCTION of the pay/parks if the department underperforms substantially? more
GST phase will bring small traders on road .Imagine profit margin 10%,rent of shop Rs.10K per month, one salaried/waged employee ,power bill, misc.expenses etc.If we count these on avg.annual, trader will hv to reach turnover exceeding 25lakhs for starting his bread butter. When he will get bread butter? How? are after crossing 25 lakhs turnover.Small manufacturers will be thrown out of net by giants by making them compulsory GST Regn.etc. otherwise live to die more
With this logic, how come small traders are well off in countries where GST in operation since long. My dear Sir, GST is only merger of large number of taxes like excise, sales tax and octroi etc in one tax. Yes, there will some issues in its implementation. more
There will never be a perfect government, nor a perfect tax. Imperfection of the government or the ta is not an excuse not to pay taxes. Most of the Indians use this excuse not to pay taxes. As the PM has pointed out thousands of people have luxury cars, huge houses but very few people voluntarily pay the tax dues. GST rates are not perfect and they are subject to change according the needs of the central and state governments. Most of us don't understand the huge exercise that the Finance Minister had to undertake to bring about a compromise between various states - manufacturing states & consuming states, and developed & under developed states. Goods can now travel all over the country without octroi barriers, and reach the destination faster. This alone will save thousands of crore by not wasting petrol and diesel. By eliminating cascading effect various taxes, GST will bring down the prices. These will bring down the avenues of bribes and corruption. India was politically one in 1947 but it is economically one in 20117. As far as misuse of revenue, it is our responsibility to hold our representatives to account. We have to use all legal remedies to solve this problem - voting, write letters to newspapers, organize demonstrations, file cases etc. Let's admit that with all its imperfections, economic and political independence, is a blessing to us all. more
Even if all the citizens diligently pay taxes, the tax money will not be fully utilised for the welfare of the nation or it's citizens. more
That is big worry, schemes don't reach the needy in paucity of funds. Where does our money go? Salaries of political leaders are increased by 100%where as they get all indirect benefits. Have anyone of us seen any leaders poor? GST or any other taxes should reach to needy. more
The high taxes is result of non-compliance by our own people. If every one pays tax due to him, rate will automatically come down. Further corruption and illegal ideas make tax collection less which compels increase in rates. A recent news article illustrates it well, some where shoes costing more than Rs.1000 are being sold in one piece as GST on shoes costing less than Rs. 1000 attracts at the rate of 5% while above Rs. 1000 it is at the rate of 12%. So save 7% by selling shoes costing between 1000 to 1999 in single piece. more
