Latest Update for Noida - G.Noida e-way hi-tech traffic system launch put off in comings days

NOIDA: Less than 24 hours before the intelligent traffic management system (ITMS) was to be inaugurated on the Noida-Greater Noida expressway by the Uttar Pradesh chief secretary (CS), the launch has been indefinitely postponed.

Sources said that the programme has been deferred as the CS is occupied with other engagements. Sources also said that the state chief minister, Akhilesh Yadav, is now likely to give the nod to the project. However, whether the CM will cut the ribbon in Noida or from Lucknow is yet to be ascertained.

The hi-tech system being rolled out by an Austrian company has come at a cost of nearly Rs 30 crore and is expected to bring down the accident rate on the high-speed Noida-Greater Noida expressway by about 25%.

Once launched, the system will monitor traffic along the e-way and guide commuters to adapt speed to ensure smoother flow of traffic. It will also help to coordinate policing and emergency services. As part of the ITMS, the Noida traffic police will also launch an e-challan system to rein in traffic violators.

According to officials, on Tuesday, Rama Raman, chairperson of the three Authorities of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway areas, will instead flag off the 23-strong PCR Toyota Innovas at 10am from the police control room at the mouth of the Noida-Greater Noida expressway.

Meanwhile, the opening of the sprawling office of the senior superintendent of police (SSP), Gautam Budh Nagar, in Greater Noida has also been put off.

According to Authority officials, the 23 police patrol vehicles have come at a cost of about Rs 2 crore and are being handed over by the Noida Authority. The running, maintenance and operational costs will also be borne by the Authority. With the addition of the 23 SUVs to the police patrol, Noida will have a total of 61 police vehicles to patrol the city. more

Good an ITMS system inaugurated, however, systems that are homegrown work better than imported ones though ideal in their native environments, where various optimisation iterations can be run through. Delhi Metro benefitted Noida, through economies of scope, scale already factored therein, being seamlessly connected, as geographically contiguous, making for a continued travel while adopting the standardisation inherent in an intracity transportation system. Cleverly this saves resources. The note mentions Akshilesh Yadav as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh! How updated is the information when the CM has been Yogi ji since last 5 years. more
Noida benefitted immensely, including the gentrification, from being in the National Capital Region, utilising the benefits provided by Delhi, mainly the international airport. Where would Noida be if the city were a satellite town of even Lucknow. Noida's Jewar Airport took 14 years to build, meanwhile Noida's residents too their flights from Delhi. Without following the zoning methodology, growth has been organic. Without basic infrastructure, superstructure being built, determined by market forces. We are witness whose results we witnessed with Supertech's excesses, that required having the twin towers being imploded. more
