Delhi Pollution in Winter Causes
Was reading the news. The pollution in Delhi is at its worst in winters. Reasons:
1) Ggreat plumes of smoke from burning rice paddies in Punjab in October and November.
2) More than 1000 brick kilns operate inside the National Capital Region and their main production period coincides with Delhi’s winter season.
3) During the winter months, cool air stagnates over the city, keeping pollution close to the ground where people breathe. Delhi’s persistent winter fog only worsens the problem.
4) Then obviously there is the old diesel vehicles plying in the city.
What can be done to address these is something we must discuss. Can Kejriwal take these on?? more

Dr Sharma, you have given a very valuable assessment of the pollution problem. I dread to come to India after October till February. Politicians hold great lectures in the united nations for the world order but pays little heed to the standing issues in the country particularly envoirenment problems, Since the government does almost nothing or is least bothered about healthcare. Since it´s an economy of its own and people have to pay for their medical care. Will India improve with religion oriented politicuans driving people mad into a direction of false illusions? more

Being a Delhiite and a RadiologistI see alarming number of patients with Allergic Bronchitis and Asthma which start rising from October. Unfortunately our dear children are the biggest victims and paying the price of our follies and Govt apathy and greed of the Industry. Diesel being cheap - more and more new Vehicles - are made & bought in this catagory. Old trucks and buses are major culprits. They spew noxious gases but remain unchecked and drive with impunity? WHO IS BOTHERED OR SERIOUS ? We are a nation of tolerant people, corrupt Government and a CHALTA HAI attitude. Everyone is interested in making a fast and easy buck. We must make car and Vehicle Free zone in one - most busy road of one part of Delhi- every day of the week. It may cause lots of inconvenience but can be a part of solution. We must improve our roads, quality of petrol and diesel, emission standards of our vehicles, put a partial ban on Diesel Vehicles etc.etc. We must care for the health of our children and ACT DECISEVELY. more

we should examine a busy traffic signal near our house or on the way to our office ,one should park one,s vehicle a bit ahead of the crossing at a safe place ,come back to crossing & watch whether any better arrangements can help in increasing the speed of clearence of vehicle at the signal.Even a 1 % improvement will decrease pollution,decrease travel time etc. The signal at t point of captain gaur marg from modimill to ring road lajpat nagar had a time of only 45 seconds to right towards ashram.oN MY PERSUATION IT WAS INCREASED TO 75 SECONDS & in time of rush it is even increased further so that more vehicles can cross when they are in speed.Thousands of vehicles benefit daily by this single observation& .Authorities are ready to listen but have to be persuaded consistently with proper reasoning .My reason was that more vehicles will be able to cross if little more time is allowed when they are in motion. more

It is awfull to be in India during winter time, that is why I do not travel to India from December to end of January. Well the authorities do nothing to solve any problem in India and the Modi government is blocking the Delhi CM to do anything good for Delhi or India. He sees him as a political rival with good intentions for the country and that is uncomfortable for an ambitious PM Mr Modi. . Can or will India improve, if so when or is it an illusion?
