The Chennai Central does not meet the quality expectations of being the Junction of a metro city or Souther Railway Headquarters.
1. The station space is always congested.
Suggestions:
More waiting space to be created,
Number of platforms need to be increased so that the number of passengers waiting at a given point of time will be lesser,
Platform space to be effectively utilized by providing more waiting seats, if required even multi-level waiting seat rooms can be constructed at the platform.
2. Toilets are not maintained with good quality.
3. Poor connectivity to Park station towards tambaram, Park Station towards Velachery, and bus stand (towards Koyambedu). Pedestrians along with their luggage, need to compete through the hassle of vehicles traffic to reach these places. Need sky walk connectivity with luggage trolley movement support to these places.
4. Parking facility is really having very low space compared to the huge crowd. Also, the current parking facility is not in good condition.(water logging during rainy season)
5. The coach alignment of a train at the specific platform to be displayed in digital form.
6. Station Map, direction boards to places / shops within the station is not available.
7. Map depicting the places around Central Station (Park station, Bus stand, Parrys, etc) , Direction boards to Park station towards tambaram, Park Station towards Velachery, Bus stop towards Koyambedu, Bus stop towards Parrys are not available.
