One of the worst railway stations even when comparing small stations in towns and villages. Only the station is big, but platforms are fully loaded with goods and parcels and stinking fish boxes, so bad that passengers dont have right space to walk and board the coach. If this is the case for adults, the situation is more pathetic for senior citizens.
There should be atleast some common sense among the staff and supervisors who are assigned for the platforms to see that the good unloaded and passengers are regulated. Complete chaos and i would not even given rating 1 for this station.

Chennai central station is congested now with 10 platforms for main and 4 for local trains.It has to be little clean and orderly.Fish stench is emanating from any plat form.It should be controlled to on area near the goods platform.Parking place should be extended so as to provide slot for taxis.

No boards for indicating coach numbers and the train number on the platform. The porters exploit the passengers. No space allotted for call taxis thus allowing taxis to fleece passengers. Not very clean.

The porter system must made very transparent in terms of payment. The payment for goods per Kg is clearly mentioned in each station so that no passenger will suffer.
The packing charges are also clearly mentioned.
The scanner must be implemented in parcel service area also. before billing all parcels must be scanned and weighed loaded.

Good but no retiring room and hotels to eat (sit and eat)

Certain Shortcomings I have noticed at Chennai Central Station is.
1) Passengers sleeping on the Platforms and waiting area even in the walkway.
2) Dogs strolling on the platforms.
3) Beggars pestering you in the compartment and on the platforms.
4) As far as cleanliness is concerned well for the crowd using it it is ok but can be improved.
5) Car parking expensive and very poorly maintained. Hoping after Metro work the parking will be improved.
6) Connectivity to suburban platforms and to Park station very poor.
7) Cleanliness on the tracks inside Chennai Central is disgusting.
8) Space Management is very poor. Lots of Available Space but mostly remain underutilized.
