Women Safety in Indian Railways - Inputs on Issues

Dear Friends:

Thanks for your participation on various priorities and subjects to improve the State of Railways.

Some of the members had suggested that this subject be reviewed.

Please list all the issues Women face while traveling in Indian Railways. Once we know them, we will identify solutions needed through a separate post and submit the same to Railway Ministry for action.

Thanks and I look forward to your inputs.

An emergency number like 100, 101 etc should be there, so that when women face some issues they can just dial that no. from their mobile without anybody's notice to intimate they are in trouble or they need help; her mobile can traced thru gprs and immediately alert squad or railway police to take action.... For this every train must be provided with necessary facility so that tracking with gprs works fine. more
Over Crowded Stations, Platforms are one of the issue. Sanitation in Trains and on Platform / Station is pathetic. Police or security is compromised, so need trained and active personals for Railways also. more
There are few issues: If a person (male) stares at a female, under no law he can be punished. But it is clearly understood that some dirty minded people take the advantage of crowded trains to execute some obscene acts to women. Question comes, how to stop this? Some typical solutions can be implemented very easily ... which will surely increase the level of security for women, as well as for others also. These are: 1. Strict control of unauthorised people inside reserved compartments. No passenger should be allowed to travel without valid reservation. This will ensure that no passenger will unnecessarily try to sit close to a lady passenger. 2. Strict implementation of "no smoking" and "no alcohol" rules. If necessary, passengers should be subjected to checking, the way drunk drivers are checked on highways. 3. Lady police force to be deployed inside train for controlling eve teasing. I am sure this will control the problem to a great extent (if really implemented by Indian Railways) more
Chain snatching and eve teasing; allow the TTE to receive complaints and coordinate with Police immediately. Let the Railways give protection to the passenger's valuables at an extra cost with quick serving systems atleast for long distance travelers. more
Dear friends, Every body needs safety. Why only women. If some one is there to care of safety he can do it for all.
