Travel Insurance problem.
On 29.10.21 I booked my ticket on train 02617 from Kalyan to Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi. In general category tickets were under waiting list but under Senior Citizen category tickets were available. Since I am senior citizen I tried booking under this category but to my surprise I could not find option for travel insurance. After trying many time I booked my ticket and tweeted message to IRCTC. Their reply surprised me. I copy the reply;
"Sir, inconvenience regretted. At the time of booking in General quota availability status was in waiting list. But after applying SS quota and full fill all criteria confirm berth allotted . Insurance option is available only on confirm berth at the time of booking ".

My question is " When berths are available under particular quota then why passengers are denied their right of travel insurance"? more

If a particular category has to get insurance on confirmation of ticket where is the need for that category passenger to exercise an option to get insurance. Having got the ticket should automatically entitles him for insurance incase of any mishap during that journey. RYK more

Yes, the IRCTC should allow insurance as soon as the ticket is confirmed. The deficiency in software should be removed on priority. The ticket booking with insurance should be quick and hassle free. more

It seems IRCTC is managing their software in such a manner that some kind of bugs are continues and they do not rectify, even if it is pointed out. The software vendor leave many loop wholes for blocking the site at pick hours for the benefit of private parties, who book the tickets on premium. more

I don't think having somewhere insurance " allows the purchase of the ticket". The more the railway should do is issue a yearly insurance"when first ticket is purchased". That way the deception "rendered on the traveling public, through the servers" can be arrested more

Why people do not take a term insurance which covers any type of death? Available till age of 75. Premium is very low if taken at a young age as soon as one start's earning more
