Time limit for claiming TDS refund

Currently refund of TDS can only be claimed within 6 years from end of financial year in which it was deducted. There are many salaried people whose TDS has been deducted however they are not aware of income tax provisions and do no file return and obtain TDS refund. Why timelimit for TDS refund should be increased to 15 years from end of financial year in which it was deducted. more

In my opinion the time limit of 6 years to claim refund is enough. If any one is so careless that he is neither aware of the TDS nor able to claim the refund, he wont be able to do so even in 15 years. more
Whatever, but demand of 15 years is not relevant. The person who is not bothered to seek refund within six years need not be serious for 15 or even 25 years. more
limitation Act apply so period cannot be extended more
There are many people whose tds has been deducted but return not filed since they are not aware of income tax provisions .even they are not aware whether their tds has been deducted.it is only since only last 5 or 6 years that we can see tds in 26AS.if therevis no income tax liability than amt deducted should be returned and if there is no time limit than it is more than welcome more
Either one has to take a proactive action in respect of one's taxes or entrust it to some one else to do it (for many reasons including illiteracy, lack of time, health issues etc.). Asking for automatic refund without filing taxes is as of now a dream. Automatic deduction can become a reality when every rupee earned and every rupee spent is traceable to one's PAN. That means full accountability at every single step of one's earnings and spending. I feel India is just not ready for that yet. more
The people who dont file regular returns want the time extention from 6 to 15 yrs, Mr.Kulkarni. Unfair demand more
