Ticket Cancellation-Refund-Re booking on same day
Background:
Currently refund of money to the passenger on account of Cancellation is taking three to 5 days to reach the respective accounts.
Proposed Idea:
If a passenger cancelled the existing ticket and going to book a new ticket on the same day then there must be a provision to use the available funds on account of cancellation of the ticket.
Benefits:
Organization Point of View:
This will reduce the major portion of the refund transactions related issues. Most of the passengers cancel the tickets and book another ticket on the same day.
Passenger Point of View:
Passenger need to pay only the difference amount (i.e. Actual ticket value–Funds available on account of Cancellation).
Possible issues/concerns to be addressed:
• Reconciliation: Need to maintain a separate process to handle such transactions for easy reconciliation
• Cancellation of ticket: Need to analyze the cancellation of the ticket to be done first or can be done during the new ticket booking by accepting the PNR number. more

Yes, the Honble Minister should immediately consider reducing the canceling charges to nominal. Railways are not loosing anyway on cancelled tickets and why burdening the passenger. more

Cancellation charges are very high, due to cancellation railways are not loosing any money and it is also beneficial for wait listed passengers more
