Super Fast trains - Are they really super fast?

We have so many super fast trains in India, but what we need to look at is whether they are really in that category? Passengers pay a super fast surcharge when they purchase a ticket for such a train, but these trains are no good compared to other mail/express trains? The existing criteria states that any train with an average speed of 55 kmph or higher can be classified as a super fast train. I want to urge the Railways to change this and tag the train super fast only if it's clocking average speed of 80 kmph or higher. I also want to suggest that, in case, the train is delayed and takes longer, then the super fast surcharge should be refunded to the passengers. more

Too many of these 'superfast' trains stop at multiple stations in between. Count the number of stops in a train from Mumbai to Bangalore/Jaipur to get an idea. These trains, particularly between important cities, should run non-stop overnight (or minimise stops in between during the day), to become seriously useful, with in-between routes served by regional, State or suburban/District trains. There are too many long-distance trains, most of which need to be split up, merged and cancelled, to clear the network. more
You are 100% right Mr Venkateswara Rao, It's my challenge to the Railways (SC) In 365 Days whether the train named satavahana BZA-SC which is called as superfast reached Secunderabad on time @1145 AM. more
Then you will have no superfast trains in India. Time tables are adjusted to make trains look superfast, in many cases trains run late by an hour in a total travel time of 5hrs. It is a ruse used by railways to collect more fare indirectly. more
