The ball is in Sterlite's court. Let us see if the want to challenge the decision or accept it. If they accept it, then they are on the wrong site. If they appeal, then let us see what the courts have to say. more
Every action has an equal reaction ....Sterlite misused the system by manipulating central government with their money power and now people will retaliate back ...no chance for Sterlite to go any part of India. more
Where will the tipplers get the money from ? No wonder so

many chain snatching , house burgling cases . more
when the politicians accept money for their growth, business houses will definitely ask for favor. all Politician incl fringe irrelevant parties took money from the company. Now they have no issues, so bent upon closing an industry. Industrial growth in TN will go backwards.. tasmac industry is the best viable option for TN. more
ROOT CAUSE: This industry is one among the industries listed in 17 category of highly polluting industries (as per MoEF & CC) which is in operation in TN & in India. As we all agree that the Pollution Load in this unit is comparing to other polluting industries operating in TN & India. WE can easily understand the root cause for all these disheartening & dismal happening in TN is clear picture of the ineffective, highly corrupt, incapable, crooked, untrustworthy, shady behaviour of the Regulatory Body which is PCB, as well as it exposes it's act of unprofessional, self evident, mindless, laxity, negligent, unethical, inefficient, incompetence, paranoid and finally fit for nothing. It's having neither capacity of technical guidance nor intelligence. We ask one simple question to PCB “ Whether Pollution Control Board has controlled pollution in this unit or have failed in it’s duty ? “ By issuing closure order very lately seems it has accepted its non functioning and deliriction of it's duty. PCB not able to answer. Hence there in no use of wasting public tax money in having PCB. Collectively it only spoils people and Industries relationship… The other Departments such as collector & police scapegoated for this ineffective PCB’s activities. Need of the hour is that this unit should start : Dismantle, Protect Environment, Protect Public Health, air, water, soil, surrounding ecology, Site Remediation & Reclamation of the plant area on war footing with the daily on-site supervision of State Pollution Control Board, CPCB & MoEF officers. These officers should no more stretch thier hands to receive undertable things. Officials who once took advantage of weddings or funerals of relatives to receive bribes from this unit should stop.... to avoid public anger... & protect them & thier kins... more
Sterlite plant is not posing any threat as for as the coastal cum river bed as it appears. Now political parties to decide since hooligans have no say. more
Replying from Chennai is easy than living in sir. Sure it has political effect, but life of the local is much more important. more
if you are 100% sure that it meets proper environmental and pollution control board norms, then it is bad for the industry and people of TN looking for jobs. But unfortunately, that does'nt seem to be the case: both these govt bodies and the govts (both centre and state), are corrupt. And the past and future govts will be equally corrupt to clear environmental hurdles. So, people will be forced to resort to protests. Please read the damages a copper smelter can cause and how it can be brought within regulated limits http://www.nrcresearchpress.com/doi/abs/10.1139/a96-011?journalCode=er#.WwwLNUiFPIU . But will Vedanta do it minding the welfare of people around the area? more

Ensure these standards are met before Vedanta dares to expand its operations. India is no longer a dump yard for such polluting units. Enough of pollution in the form of Lignite, dyes, pharma industries more
