Railway Stations should be converted in citizen friendly areas, especially for senior citizens. Ramps should be erected for going from one platform to the other as getting a loader gets very costly at times and now -a - days wheeled luggage can be moved around easily if proper ramps are in place. Last but not the least proper software should be incorporated in the reservation / ticket booking that senior citizens are allotted lower berths. more
1. All staircases should be provided with a slope by the side to enable people with wheeled luggage to carry it without lifting. Similarly escalators should be set up where ever feasible. this will help elderly people to cross over to other platforms. 2. A second suggestion is that the tea/ coffee cups should be marked from the outside for consumers to know the quantity they should get. There is no standardisation of cups/glasses and all vendors are free to choose sizes of their choice - keeping the prices same ! 3. Provide trolleys at the stations to all passengers (like airports) but on chargeable basis. The charges should be such as to make the system a profit centre. Part of the money collected may be used to bring back the trolleys to the required locations. more
As far as possible senior citizens and ladies may be alloted lower berths according to their age, such software may be applied while applying reservation more
1. Enquiry system is still manual. Put enough KIOSK in every platform to get Next train, arrival, departure, PF No. etc. 2. All PF must have enough escalator, wider over bridge, better rush management. 3. Enough Electric cart to carry old/disabled people to their respective compartment. 4. Availability of boiled water/milk or baby food for infants. Actually one has to study every individual passenger to get a comprehensive list of amenities to serve the mass. more
More escalators and ramps should be made on stations. Because the passengers above 40 years facing problem to claim through steps and down to the platforms. more
