SCANDAL IN TAMIL NADU UNIVERSITIES

Marks scandal in Anna University, sex scandal in Bharathiyar University, Vice chancellor posting in Madurai Kamaraj University and so many other disturbing incidents have tarnished the reputation of universities in Tamil Nadu
But, who cares? These universities are no man’s property.

While such matters are widely reported in the media and there is widespread concern amongst people about such sordid affairs, there is no change for better in ground situation.

The public opinion in Tamil Nadu is so weak that angry voices from the people has not disturbed the peace of the minister in charge of higher education in the state.

While media and activists react strongly on issues like jallikattu or NEET exam , why are everyone silent on such important situation in universities which is now chaotic.

Media can take the issue strongly but both print and TV media in English and Tamil are largely owned by politicians and business men and what do they care .

Several politicians own universities and colleges and many politicians own TV media also.

Mr. Venkataraman has brought out the stink in educational institutions. It is true. But what is the remedy? You can never change the politicians. They will do such things time and again. But sorrowfully we have to admit that in a way we, the educated people, are at fault. We only cry but do nothing. For a politician you and me are not important. His target is the uneducated poor people because they only will vote at any cost. So he gives them freebies, money for vote etc., and keep them in good humor. Just think. In any election the average voting is about 60% t0 80% and in this the above mentioned category will be around 90%. This is because the educated will only talk and comment but will not vote. Please understand this balance 20% to 40% if they vote then they can change the whole scenario. But they won't. That is the fallacy. This is also the main reason why politicians don't want his vote bank ever get good education less they will understand what is what and deny them their success. So don't expect a good educational atmosphere in Tamil Nadu. They knew NEET is coming. But they did nothing to educate the students. They have the audacity to say they don't want NEET in Tamil Nadu. I remember one party person in one of the TV forum had the audacity to say that let there be no NEET and let us have our own educational system for medical and if those doctors treat us it is enough. You expect any revolution? God also can't save !! more
The minister should explain what measures he has taken to prevent such immoral incidents that are discreding Tamil Nadu and it's Universities. How students,in particular girl students are harrased in various institutions has to be monitored by a reliable and authentic system. It is said that students doing Phd face lot of harrasement. There has to be a reliable authority of very high integraty, preferably a lady who students and teaching staff can approach or write their problems without any hesitation. So far the honourable minister has not done anything to gain the confidence of public and the students. more
What politicians educate . Take money and vote for the party.why you make hue and cry. First education should be survival with dignity and social hormony. As long as me and mine exsist no one will give ears to your cry . Quote and Quote, you have given clear answer to your own observations. It pains ofcourse but let as endure. more
I have gone through the write up of Mr. N. S. Venkataraman. My response is what a minister can do everytime where their is a scandal everywhere. At the most he/she can be suspended by the government and cannot terminate that's the problem. Once action taken by government the accused will knock the door of court which will prolong for long time to clear the case though we all see he / she is a damn culprit. Our system is based on democracy and no one can take stringent action other than the court. Even the court are pronouncing judgements in good manner punishing the culprits / accused still there are many who are indulging in sexual harassment, corruption etc. more
As commented by Mr N.S.Venkatraman, I too feel that the educational standard in Tamilnadu has gone done and by which we the Tamilians are unable to get good employment for our wards. more
