SC panel rejects govt plan to video record all trials
This progressive step has been rejected without assigning any reason.
Unless we have timely justice for all , we cannot call our selves a democracy.
Do they have something to hide ?
Courts are maintained by public money and and citizens have right to know whats happening.
Every time the issue of pending cases is debated, they sight shortage of judges.Its only a small reason.
For years trial goes on, which has no relevance to the case in question. Advocates , and judges have a nexus. In fact the judge presides over this dramabazi, which goes on and has no bearing on the case.
I am speaking from personal experience.For 7 years in the Delhi High Court this soap opera takes place, presided by a Judge, so it has legal sanction.There is only 1 document , which has to be accepted or denied. The deed is available with the Registrar and can be verified in 10 minutes. We have already spent 7 years 34 dates and only God knows , how much more.

what is the fear. The public wants justice, which they dont get, so at least they should be able to see how their money is utilized and how the system denies giving timely justice.
Please take up the issue, only Video recording will end , what goes on in the name of Justice. more

It is not good to disbelieve the Judges and Lawyers. No purpose will serve with the CCTV Cameras. more

good . . and such recordings may be taken as evidence in allegations of botched up trial and incompetent or corrupt judicial officer etc . . more

Views expressed are well appreciated. Shri Verma's objection making proceedings public is fully taken care by Mrs. Arora's suggestion that these should be made available only to the parties at their cost. It may help court to recollect past proceedings, curtail repeated adjournments etc. and lead to speedy decisions. Best regards. more

@Brijesh Verma: In my view it is the non-transparency which is causing the corruption in the country. Everything is tried to be hidden. Installing of CCTV cameras does not mean that the proceedings are being conducted on live media. CCTV cameras at least create a fear that some one is watching and the conduct become fair in the fear. What is the objection if motor accident claims/ traffic violation compounding cases or even family dispute (matrimonial) cases are heard under CCTV surveillance and what is the sensitivity involved in such cases. more

Mr. Verma, RTI is there, but the route in the higher judiciary is so difficult, that one will give up even before trying. Video need not be given to public , but only concerned parties in the trial can have access to them. Any way trials are held in Court in front of all present in Court. If you experience trials in Indian Courts, the litigant is treated like an under trial, even when no crime is committed.Asking for a division of property does not make you into a criminal, but stand in court for evidence, this is how you are treated and there is a gender bias, how dare a women ask for division of property, is the attitude. What is the use of equal laws, with no implementation ? Why should evidence of 1 document take 10 years ? Hope you can explain. unless the causes are rooted out, the justice system is simply a mirage. either you become a Dada and find your way, or you believe in the system and ask for help. If it goes on for 20 years what good does it do ? Are we not entitled to get Justice in one life time ? Its only lawyers, advocates , who go along with this system, as they are paid. The Judges are paid from public money and cant be questioned. The only people being fleeced by all ,are the litigants who went to ask for justice, which is elusive, as the system is designed to try your patience. Most people are even afraid to voice their opinion, as with the kind of powers enjoyed by the Judiciary, you may find your self in Tihar. Sorry, but I strongly feel that only a transparent system, can deliver Justice. Even Judges make comments, which are contradictory, when the order actually comes, it is different .Happens in the highest Court also. Video recording will change the way Courts are functioning and Justice will be delivered in a time bound manner, if you cut out what happens today. more
