SBI Credit Cards - Unethical Activities
On 31st January 2016, I renewed my Air India Signature Credit Card for one year by paying the annual fees. At the time, there was a certain scheme of reward points (Spend Rs 3L - 20,000 , Rs 5L - 20,000 and Rs 10L - 50,000). On 11th March, they sent a mail changing the scheme to (Spend Rs 5L - 20,000, Rs 10L - 30,000 & Rs 20L - 50,000) which is a drastic curtailment and also mentioning in the message "Annual spends are calculated from the date of your account opening" which implies that the effect takes place from the date of renewal. This is a curtailment of benefits with retrospective effect and according to my understanding, is against consumer rights. They can do this with effect from the next card renewal but not to those cards which have been renewed till 10th March 2016.

Absolutely...HDFC is much better, they are at least better in hearing your grievances..SBI has nothing to do with the credit cards division bcz it is managed by an out sourced organization..who hardly cares for the problems one goes through..I also had one & I only know how I got rid of it.. yet i am receiving mails /messages from them saying that make payment through..so..& so medium..imagine it is happening when I have settled the account by paying the whole out standing amount in one go by cheque.. ??? more

over a period of time, we have observed that almost all Credit Cards issued by various Banks fall into the same category. If you take up the matter with the Banking Ombudsman or RBI, they may say that all the terms & conditions have already been (though in small print) and it may not be possible to stand up against a huge behemoth. It is futile & we are only wasting out time & money on things which we should be aware of. A better option will be to prefer a complaint with the relevant Consumer Court having jurisdiction over the Bank in question. more
