Railway Budget 2015-16 - Highlights
Dear all:
Thanks for all the inputs shared by you for Railway Budget 2015-16. Attached are the highlights of Railway Budget as delivered by Minister of Railways in the Parliament today.
There are four goals for Indian Railways to transform over next five years:
a) To deliver a sustained and measurable improvement in customer experience. (Cleanliness, Passenger Amenities, Convenience, Communication)
b) To make Rail a safer means of travel (Safety)
c) To expand Bhartiya Rail’s capacity substantially and modernise infrastructure.: increase
daily passenger carrying capacity from 21million to 30 million: increase track length by 20%
from 1,14,000 km to 1,38,000 km: grow our annual freight carrying capacity from 1 billion
to 1.5 billion tonnes. (Capacity improvement, Modernization)
d) Finally, to make Bhartiya Rail financially self-sustainable (New Revenues, Realizing Cost Savings, Better Governance and Increased Transparency)
You will find a lot of your inputs being incorporated in the budget and we greatly thank you for continued participation.
We know that the real test will be in implementation and we will continue to seek your inputs and on ground feedback as many of these new initiatives commence in the near future.

Dear Prabhuji, I would like to draw your attention towards inconvenience of passengers due to ticket checking by TTE at midnight and they keep light on which disturb the sleep of other passengers . TTE should not allowed to check ticket between 10 pm & 5 am or they should check ticket on the entry of the coach at night. more

Dear Prabhuji. I would like to draw your attention towards inconvenience of passengers in the sleeper class coach mainly berth No. 4/5/6/7//8 and 65/66/67/70/72 as direct light from entry/exit doors which continues on at night and disturbs sleep of passengers. It is my suggestions that upper part ( Leaving 6 fit from base ) of first and last compartment of coach should be covered by ply/shade to avoid direct light on eyes. more

One some station where crowd is much, there should b sufficient ticket vending machine and that machines should accept any type of card not only specific as it happens in European country. more

Railway should make multi story buildings above the station and give it on long term rent for commercial use. People will love to have office at station due to well connectivity and railway will have good revenue. more

Prabhu ji ..online booking of unreserved tickets and platform tickets must be allowed to reduce rush on the queues because early morning its not possible to reach desired station and take tickets as well and it will promote paperless ticketing and increase revenues more
