Query on PMAY
Hi All,
I have bought a new flat in Bangalore with my mother as a co-owner. She is a homemaker and do not have any property registered in her name. When i was applying for Home loan initially they told i was eligible for PMAY, when the same went for processing now they are telling its not possible to go PMAY as my mom is co-owner due to change in the policy.
Can you please confirm any such changes in the PMAY policy.

I think reason behind rejection is definition of "Beneficiary Family", which is "The beneficiary family will comprise husband, wife and unmarried children". However, as suggested by Mr. Chander Gupta, please ask the bank for a copy of circular/notification mentioning change in the policy as stated by it. more

It's unfortunate that you had not made proper inquiry before buying the flat. Whenever someone has no regular income or homemaker, i.e. does not file IT-Return, it's questionable to be owner of any new property. You should have brought in the joint name with the earning member as 1st name. When loan is refunded, you can go for release deed to transfer your share of ownership to the other owner etc. more
