Public abuse of women and children

My sister lives in faridabad and in her society live a few pathetic abusive men.

This person few weeks ago used the ugliest of languages with her and the other kids in the society as one of them did not want them playing cricket. A few other of his abusive friends also joined him and they harassed the women and children badly.

My sister was shocked, literally crying, kids too.

What should be done? Should an FIR be done. What kind of case should be filed. The rwa there is hopeless and 1 of the same individuals is part of it. more

1. two aspects - man/men abusing and harassing are punishable by law Action to be taken: 1. go to the local police station preferably with a "women social activist" - file a written complaint - take a copy back from them with their signature and the stamp 2. reason for taking a social activist is in nearly all the cases police refrain from filing complaints 2. File an complaint (state the reason ) what they did (that is where the women activist would come into the picture using appropriate terms etc.) and that you fear they would continue to harass your sister 3. get the police (SHO) to either visit the site or call the men to their police station and after some good advice let them go If they continue to harass your sister even after that then the social activist can on the basis of the first complaint file an FIR. Please note: irrespective of what transpired, law very clearly states any actions or words which would impact the modesty of a woman would be treated as an offence. And Naina be confident ..today's law is in favor of the women - if those men have in fact dome what they have done they please do not hesitate on going ahead. all the best more

There are laws against harassment of women and you should proceed accordingly. You should proceed accordingly. more
Ms.Naina, u must clarify why yr sis disallowed the men from playing cricket. Take the matter to Society's working committee, first. more
Madam Naina Mittalji, It is not clear how the problem arose. Who objected to whom playing cricket? Whatever the reason, however, it does not excuse the men using filthy language. All the more so because it has occurred in your sister's own society wherein is her home and the other children's and women's as well. Ignoring the matter will mean that the rogues are emboldened to become worse and more intolerable as time goes by. You must call for a society general members' meeting where all the residents, men, women and children participate and thrash out the matter thoroughly. There must be a code of conduct and the society should prescribe norms of conduct for everyone. When the offenders find that the ethical and moral among the residents outnumber them they will be forced to be on their guard and not repeat their loutish behaviour. You must, if possible, enlist the help and cooperation of their womenfolk as well. This is the first step, not rushing to the police at the drop of a hat. I am suggesting this because you are all members of the same society and going to the police at once may make it very difficult for your sister and others in the long run. If you find that the society meeting has no impact please collect a copy of the minutes as evidence and file an FIR with the police, roping in the other women, their husbands and society President/Secretary/Treasurer as well. Going alone to the police may be futile as they tend to be dismissive of what to them seems to be a small issue, though outraging the modesty of women through foul and intemperate language at their very society is a virulent crime and not to be tolerated.
