People's annoyance on bus fare hike justified

Tamil Nadu government has increased the bus fare by around 67% , saying that it is necessary as the transport corporation has incurred huge loss and steep pay revision has been given to the transport employees.

At the same time, the government has not made any statement as to what it has done in the last several years to improve the efficiency , avoid wastage, prevent corruption and reduce the losses.

Obviously, transport corporation is a mismanaged public sector organization, that reflect on the caliber of the ministers and their inadequate commitment as well as poor capability of the bureaucrats who are directly in charge of management.

The government has not revealed any long term plans for this losing organization and as to how it would make the organization profitable in the coming years. It’s silence is eloquent , as it indicates the government simply has no plans.

The Tamil Nadu government has shamelessly increased the salary and perks for the MLAs and ministers , who are ultimately responsible for the governance of the state. With finances of the state in precarious condition, the government keeps on increasing non essential freebies to buy peace with the poor people.

Such approach has brought down the finances of the state to precarious condition and mismanaged transport corporation is one of the big contributors for the state's financial mess.

The most affected by the bus fare hike are those in the lower income group and the pensioners and the government has substantially increased the burden for them now.

Ministers, IAS officers and most government officials do not travel in bus , as they get substantial salary. Ministers and top officials have government vehicles. Obviously, they do not feel the sufferings of the poor people.

The poor people are left high and dry and they are paying the price for the inefficiency of the government and low standards of governance.

What is stated is correct. The Politician, the dishonest officials of Transport Corporation,no fixation of responsibility for efficiency of the officials etc are the reasons for transport hike. If the transport corpns are running with loss, the responsibility rests with the concerned officials.Hence punishment must be imposed on such officials and remove them from service and seizing their private property for the lossess incurred by them. If these measures introduced by the govt, then there will be a good sign. more
We cannot question. Citing public inconvenience they take undue advantage. When the union never care the Court instructions what is the use of asking questions which will never be answered more
Had the state rulers completely stopped free bees and made tamil nadu people understand nothing is free price rise is not at all an issue. we are always against price rise which is very bad. more
Abnormal increase in salary and perks to the government department employees will defenitly a very big problem for the common man and pensioners to run the day-to-day life. Inflation will lead to escalation in prices of essential commodities. Instead of mismanagement it is better to handover at least 50% of the transport to private sector. Now every body in government sector understands that the present government have no guts to curb the strike.. They are devoting much time in safe guarding their power. more
There is no system in the administration.all rules are flouted. nomaintenance for buses.everywhere corruption.no sincerework. if buses are in deteriorated condition then who is to take responsibility. is the governing officials are answerable for improper maintenance.why no action.is there a cortelin swindling money by not maintaining buses? All such qquerries are to be answered by the minister concerned. He should be held responsible for the condition of buses and the loss  acrued.if such strict laws are enforced then it is necessary that we have to pay the increase. Then how we maintain this state of affairs. all mlas and ministers are collaborating.so no opposition members will raise the issue in meetings.so all are jointly looting. see the increase of salrie for MLAs.
