Our laws:Some of our laws have become obsolete and totally in effective with time. One of such law is Rent Control Act which need immediate review and revision. It is most astonishing that law favors illegal occupants and grabbers of property. Now a days most of tenants demand ransom for vacating house or property. This is a reason of so many litigation and unnecessary cases in Civil courts depriving other to get justice. Many owners prefer not to rent out their property leading to higher rent. Similarly unlimited postponement of date of hearing. No action against those who file false cases in different cities to harass innocents. No punishment to false witness. These laws are more problem than solution. more

Govt is already exercising to scrap obsolete/redundant laws more
All old laws needs to be reviewed. Some of the laws were made even in 19th century are still valid. With the improvement in technology and this changing world, things are rapidly becoming outdated. I will give u an example. This is about 20 years ago when I was managing a factory in Delhi and have provided water cooler so that in summer workers may get cold drinking water. A factory Inspector visited us and told me that as per law we are supposed to provide pitchers to workers and if not provided, we may be challaned. Now see, we are providing the latest facility to workers but it does not suit the old law. There are so many other instances also. My point is, we need to review all laws which are more than 25 years or so and have lost relevance. Another Idea is that every law should have a time frame, say of not more than 25 years or so and thereafter it should either be reviewed or dies a natural death. more
I am sure that leaders/govt will ensure that intent of law not get lost in number of claises. Our laws must reviewed according prevaling circumstances to ensure justce every not popularity more
The law just needs to be scrapped more
Dear Mr. Zaidi- amendment in DELHI RENT ACT already cleared by Parliament, but not notified by Delhi Govt. Some of the provisions of the old act have already become redundant. Otherwise rent are far more today than protection contemplated under the DRC Act, so we have mode of TPA etc. Act to evict tenant. In present legal status we can also contemplate different agreement to legally protect ourselves. You r right the present legal protection /remedy provided under statutes requires complete over oiling. more
