New currency Notes
Are we of the impression that, currency notes are very important documents and should be printed with all necessary care and precautions?
Absolutely wrong. Think again.
A few days ago, there was a news in Media about original and duplicate currency notes which discussed the position of security thread in currency notes that, if it is on one position, it was original otherwise duplicate. Just out of curiosity, I checked some of the currency notes in my possession. I was shocked.
Please refer to attached scanned copies of two currency notes of 500 and 2000 denomination each and observe the position of Security Thread in these notes. In one case, security thread is closer to Mahatma Gandhi's face and in other case, it is slightly farther.
Does our RBI really consider Currency Notes as an important document or it is just printed by a road side printing press which can commit errors and write "E&OE" and get away.
Now, don't ask me a question, if I still have these currency notes with me, because, I might have spent those. To confirm of genuineness of currency notes, RBI can verify from the numbers printed on these notes. more

Wow! Printing mistake on important documents like Currency Notes? If that is acceptable, why not sublet the job of printing currency to roadside printing presses. more

Can anyone illuminate me as to who the admin are and what is their role and function? As I can see there are about more than half a dozen circles and does each one have a separate Admin.? If allegations are made against the Admin. is there any resolution mechanism or is the group held hostage by a dictatorial admin. I do know for sure that the function of the admin is to see smooth flow of information with a little restrain or restriction on language usage and if content are deemed to be causing division on caste/religious or any other factor....or if the content posted is unverified and could come under scrutiny of law. However we have members who have been contributing for a long time but now for some reason which has not been made public there is a distrust being expressed. May I request the Admin to write to the member directly if there is any breach from his side or if in case it should go as a message to one and all, let the admin post the Do's and Dont's and assign the reason why he has been forced to act. I am sure admin doesn't want any of the group member to get into legal trouble and perhaps that is the reason what I feel.... more

Even I have been having a doubt on RBI under the present NDA Government as even while the new currency distribution was going on and many ATM's were in process of being calliberated, new notes in lakhs were being found in possession of individuals...this would definitely not have come out of ATM or disbursed by Banks as they would be easily exposed, so what could be the source.....RBI and Politicians of course. Our politicians on one hand are talking about demonetization being an exercise to stop black money circulation and unearth it...while at the same time new currencies are in circulation which are not from Bank or ATM - so either the Printing Press which could have been contracted by RBI or RBI itself has to answer for this...out of more than a dozen such seizures and the persons arrested, I haven't come across these arrested people revealing or the same being revealed by our news hungry media...perhaps there is a gag on reporting on the media also. more

The Father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhi too seems to be under serious threat from none else than RBI in being called a Fake. RBI is also at logger heads with a UK agency which has supplied the papers and security thread and the dispute has gone to the International Court of Law. UK based firm had admitted their lapse and then reneged on returning back the payments. RBI has been under stress due to Center's dictatorial policies and we had seen Raghuram Rajan exiting from RBI Governor post for moral reason though he said he wanted to continue his Academic teaching work and research. Ever since this Government experimented with demonetization, the quality of notes, its printing, its security everything is hunky dory. more

RBI seems to have lost its autonomy. It does not have any control on Banks. The glaring example is the recent charges introduced by SBI being followed by others. It cant even ensure its directives to be implemented by the banks. SBI started making Rs. 400 crores per year alone on SMS alert fee through unfair business practices since 2013 onwards in violation of RBI directives and the RBI looks to be silent spectator. more
