For a missed connection, leave of helping secure alternative reservation, IR does not even allow travelling in another train in unreserved compartment. Theirs is a 100% autocratic approach. Timeline has no real meaning for IR. If train is late, it is simply passengers' bad luck and if on time good luck. FULL STOP. And reason is they do-not allow telescopic fares now a days. If one has to travel on more than one train, each is an independent separate entity. So, if incoming train is 5-10 hrs late (a real and regular event on certain sections like HWH-NGP or in certain seasons - as in DDU-NDLS section in winters, well why did not passenger made a margin of 12 -18 hrs. And, frankly what-ever we write here, IR is least least likely to understand passengers plight or respond. I DO NOT EXPECT SUCH A LAVISH TREATMENT FORM IR. more

similar to flight IR should also be help responsible but in long distance trains getting tickets weeks in advance itself is not possible but if the nos are more and there is no vacant berth then IR should put a bogie and till that time ensure that fly are either lodged in a reasonably good hotel or in IR hotels at their expenses and not leave the fly to suffer due to no fault of theirs. more

If a passenger misses his connecting train due to delay of the train then it's logical that railway should provide alternate travel arrangements. more

Absolutely. Since railways is emulating airlines in terms of "swanky stations", "workd class facilities", tuned for the affluent, it is only fair that they provide better basic services for those who can't afford these hi-fi facilities. more
