Menu list/price to be displayed in every compartment.

IRCTC gives contracts to petty contractors in each train to supply food. These contractors with a view to maximizing profit sell stale food to the commuters and charge arbitrarily. Eating in train is a nightmare to every train passenger. The cost of food items should be fixed by railways as it was being done before formation of IRCTC. And the menucard should be displayed in every compartment. The pantry car manager should issue receipts/produce detailed bills to each and every customer before taking money from them. At present even if a passenger asks for bill he is never provided with it.
Quality of food items and cleanliness of the pantry cars must be ensured as top priority. Will the Railwy minister look into this??? more

THIS IS VERY GOOD SUGGESTION. more
Drive out nepotism rampant in the railways more
above all I want to say one root cause of this problem. wherever such type of contract basis work has been implemented, the same problem is persisting. Its because, the year when the demand raised for any particular item and the year when it is actually materialized gone miss-matched. for eg. demand raised in 2008 and tender floated in 2009 or sometimes in 2010 and actual supply order placed in 2011 so the period between these years lapsed more than 1 year and inflation also gone higher for every item.. the price mentioned in demand was on the basis of last supply it means previous year of 2008 or same year and firms quoted for the same in the year 2009 and finally supply order materialized in 2010 or 2011, this created differences in prices and the rise in price over burdened on firms.. these firms are not high firms as you all read or wrote, these are petty firms they just started their small business or an en-devour. How could a firm supply you a high quality of food n 2011 or any item on just Rs. as of the year 2008 (eg). Due to regular growing inflation its never been possible for any one. Here, govt. should change or modified the criteria of purchasing .. I know this could take more time as more an more discussion and study will be done on this matter.. I just want to request to govt. on the basis of this platform that there is need a change in govt. policies, rules and regulation which should be beneficial to our society . Paper work should be less, focus on work. more
This is a very good suggestion. This must be implemented and food prices in train should be controlled. more
I am also of the view expressed by Mr. Pramod K Sahoo. Quality of the food is very poor and the prices comparately exhorbitant as no one knows about the price structure. Even if you demand a bill it is not issued. -------------------------------------------- On Sun, 20/7/14, Pramod K Sahoo wrote: Subject: New resource "Menu list/price to be dis..." in [Make Railways Better] To: sasikumarvettiyara@yahoo.com Date: Sunday, 20 July, 2014, 10:45 AM --- REPLY ABOVE THIS LINE TO POST A COMMENT- Pramod K Sahoo (Trainer) Pramod K Sahoo (Trainer) shared a new resource in "Make Railways Better".
