Issues related to Ticket Collector/TC - Inputs Requested

Dear Railways Circle Members

In one of the previous posts, this circle had identified a couple of issues relating to Ticket Collectors/TCs in Indian Railways.

The primary issue identified was that of TC taking bribes and allotting seats.

Kindly share more details on the above or any other issues you have experienced in regards to TCs.

I have travelled many times in the recent past on Falauknama Express in AC 1st Class. The first AC has 10 berths and is a part of Combo Coach, with AC-2 Tier passengers. The passengers from AC-2 Tier section prefer to use the toilets meant for First AC passengers; their reason for preference is not understood. Though there is a door at the partition point, the door is never latched to allow the pantry service to 1st AC passengers. The TTE on duty seemed to be helpless when approached. Let railways paste a poster on the glass door saying, "No Entry for Toilet Use". This would perhaps give some relief to the passengers who are paying the highest fares from the point of privacy, undue disturbances, etc. more  
It has been seen that in a 2Tier AC coach in train 12307 only 8 seats and in 2 coaches of 3tier AC only 32 bearths are for public and rest are quotas.At 8.01miutes , there is no availability. Railways are for the use of public and not to harrash them. such is the situation persists , one coach of every class be added for quotas. It clearly indicates that railway creates situation so that passengers are compelled to purchase tickets under premium tatlak or tatkal. Howrah has two inside parking of cars, i.e. for plateform no. 1to 15 for Eastern Railway and from17 to 23 for SE Railway. It is Rs. 100/- . When railway is one why this discremination is there. more  
I agree with Mr Prabhakaran's and Mr Gopi Nathan view.Railways should provide some toll free num or online complain technique against their staff like TTE/RPF.To whom need to consult in case if we face any difficulties realted to TTE/RPF asking for bribe against seat allocation althogh saet are avalable. more  
can anyone from the railway explain their duties/ responsibilities and actual hours of work and to whom they are responsible during their duty hours? more  
The TTE should be provided with a device which is akin to a point of sale devices used in certain State Bus Transport corporations or tabs. The idea is to have the reservation servers linked real-time during running of the train. This would enable RAC/WL passengers to get allotments per the priority number. Also, if a berth is vacant, people should be able to book tickets for the reminder of the journey or part thereof for the train. This would help railways to improve their revenue, TTEs allotting berths on their own discretion minimized or eliminated, apart from other benefits. In other words, Railways can provide a digital reservation chart that is updated on a real-time basis thus, eliminating discretion. At a later and much advanced stage, the device can also capture finger prints of the passengers to ensure identity by linking to Aadhar Servers. This can eliminate carrying ID cards etc., more
