IRCTC website
I have recently seen good performance improvements on the IRCTC website. However I feel they should make use of cloud services like AWS (http://aws.amazon.com), CloudRack (http://www.rackspace.com), etc so that they can increase or decrease the performance at the required time and also reduce their costs. more

Recently booked a ticket thru irctc site ( upgraded now), am amazed at the speed and ease of operation.....only hope it works as fast during vacations more

Dear Amit, Your suggestion is good but I fear since Railway being an Govt organization and IRCTC portal being a secure one involving finances they may not promote Cloud servers being third party hardware. To increase the performance of the software I have suggested logging into the IRCTC system only for booking. If you go thru my document you will surely get insight. Well, I hope Railway (IRCTC) follows it. Further, many of our friends are worried about reservations, cancellations, W/L etc on IRCTC. I am in process of a deep study about how much public money IRCTC holds and for how many days before actually a confirmed reservation is available to passenger, I would like my friends to contribute their inputs and suggestions on this on my mail ID anoopmal@gmail.com so that we can consolidate and put forth a resource document which shall be of benefit to masses and shall also improve railway reservation system further.
