IRCTC Reservation Portal - Inputs on Root Causes

with IRCTC Reservation portal.

IRCTC Reservation Portal – Key Issues

1. It takes a longer time to log in now
2. The CAPTCHA becomes pretty difficult to read
3. The portal has become a little confusing now
4. There is no way to book an onwards journey
5. The refund takes a long time to gets processed
6. Selection of seats/berths is not allowed on the current website
7. No feedback or complaint section in the site
8. Senior citizens still cannot be guaranteed lower or middle birth while booking
9. Site logs out after every few minutes
10. IRCTC website becomes slow during the Tatkal period
11. The site also crashes many times
12. While booking, it is very difficult to figure out which classes are air conditioned
13. Once a person logged in with password, it asks password for each sub-section
14. The status of RAC / WL is not updated regularly
15. TDR takes months to clear and sometimes never even happens more

I feel the agents are controling the booking even onthe web needs to be checked more  
However I would like to place on record that the IRCTC next Gen which is operational now is quite fast and smooth... -I have seen failures only for Tatkal booking while payment is being made thru SBI.. But now that will not happen as I noticed 2 days back that ITCTC has removed SBI from the 'pull down menu' for banks itself! more  
1.Using the largest bank SBI or SBICARD are not encouraged by IRCTC ! I do not like to use the private sector CARDS or Banks...but IRCTC has Strong Preference for them only. This needs to be changed. SBI exists in all rural areas where CITI or ICICI will never go for next 100 years.. so why promote them at the cost of SBI. 2.Seat selection may be permitted for elderly people. Nowadays, younger people are not chivalrous! Till I was 50 (when I started having back pain), I had always given up lower berths to seniors... now I am a senior citizen but I find younger people do not want to help seniors like me or my wife. So I travel in upper berths when I was younger as well as now when I am older ! more  
The listed defects must be removed and booking must be fair and neutral. Before final payment the site must show the berth to be offered if payment is made immediately. more
