in our country lakhs of people use train facility, so the government choose separate telecast or media net work or use local channels for the reservations. reservation charts and details of trains may be telecasted for the benefit of passengers. more

i would like to share my most recent experience of booking tatkal ticket last friday... I had plans to travel from Mumbai to Surat on Saturday, so logged on to the site for tatkal tickets at 9.58 am. The train I wanted to book for was Intercity superfast that leaves bandra terminus at 6.50 am. the login was smooth. everything was functioning well. At 10 am, there were 65 tickets available in tatkal quota at 10 am. I selected and entered all details n when i clicked for making payment, irctc website stopped responding. they exact response was that the facility is currently unavailable. I tried 2 more times and same response. Then finally around 10.10 am, the website started working and tickets were then waiting list around 30. So this is the current status of online tatkal reservation system. NOTHING has changed. Moreover, also note that i was able to make my journey. How???? I contacted an agent and he was able to get me a reserved ticket in the SAME train. Surprise!!!!! more

In order to come up against the problem of non availibilty of reservations, Private trains be also allowed simaltaneously alongwith government trains, as is already provided in air flights and cellular mobiles services. More private trains be allowed alongwith private trains for which railways may take suitable charges of tracks and stations from that private train company. Railway may more concentrate to provide more routes and tracks modernising with superior tracks for more sppedly trains and providing more efficient speedy signals on tracks. as such there will be much options for the customers for getting reservations on one hand and shall be benifited on rates of tickets as the government train shall charge genuinly in comparision to private players, as such private trains shall offer more services where as government trains shall provide more services as well as competative rates in comparision of private trains and at last the consumer shall be benifited. more

It is observed that, during festival time the moment the reservation starts (Prior 60 days), it is being booked within few minutes which is being only benefitted by high class passengers through some reliable sources / Agents. The Normal Passengers have to take waiting list Tickets which are also being allotted by railway to a great extent compared to boarding / waiting capacity which results in incovenience during journey. Requesting to provide improved reservation system compared to boarding capacity of Trains so as to ensure safe and convenient journey for the Normal Passengers also. more

Current reservation service is been benefited by the agents only. Instead we should have tranparent system of booking, and open for the common people. more
