Food Quality in Railways - Inputs on Issues

Dear Friends:

Thanks for your participation on various priorities for Railways.

We are going to start another discussion on Food Quality issues in Railways. Please list all the issues you have experienced with Food in Railways.

Once we finish that, we will identify root causes and solutions needed through a separate posts and submit the same to Railway Minister and IRCTC for action.

priority should be for hygienic preparation of foods. we see lot of photos and videos in social medias that the vendors or workers in pantry, how they prepare the food in the most unhygienic way. they don't even have the minimum care for the fellow public. they use the water from tap of bathroom to prepare tea/cofee/food. They sell water bottles from companies which are not of good reputation and standard. PERIODIC CHECKING AND STRICT VIGILENCE SHOULD BE FOLLOWED IN THIS REGARD. more  
1. Have a tariff card posted in every compartment of the food items served with their prices, so that the passengers are not overcharged by the pantry staff. 2. Have a strict system that outside vendors are not allowed to sell on local and outstation trains and platforms. The ones present should be regularly fined a high price. 3. Food should be periodically checked by a team of monitoring staff so that standard is maintained and pantry vendors are suspended if the quality is bad or complaints made by passengers. Complaints should be taken immediately online so that by the next station the issue is taken up and the pantry vendor is taken to charge. 4. Introduce a basic pantry system on all trains, some trains are not provided with pantry because they start by 7pm and end destination by 7 or 9 in the morning in such cases it is very difficult to get food on the train if one is a working person and if you do not have time to pick up food before boarding the train. more  
One more thing I have noticed is the disturbance caused by vendors during early hours of the morning. Vendors do not have concern to the passengers who are sleeping. Passengers are their customers. A little respect will do a lot good. more  
The quality of isn't upto the mark, the train journey at the least cannot be savored. The prices of some of the items sold by irctc authorized personnel itself vary from city to city. more  
sir, in railways perticularly local food not availble. and seller are also not in local. this is problem to discuss about the quality and price. more
