Extending Senior Citizen concession for Tatkal booking also
For the last 3/4 years I have been writing to the Railway Ministers and Chairman Railway Board repeatedly appealing them to sympathetically consider the apathy of senior citizens by considering to extend the facility of senior citizen concession for booking Tatkal ticket also.
By booking Tatkal ticket as it is they have to bear heavy burden of tatkal charges and over and above the concession is withdrawn. The fare is also increasing day by day. With a bear minimum source of income like pension etc they are put into more monetary pressure whereas by extending this facility there would hardly be financial burden to railways as the number of senior citizen travellers on Tatkal ticket would be a few.
A base fare of Rs 1165 is charged as Rs 620 or 735 as senior citizen women or men respectively under general category but if booking of tatkal ticket is done it is chargeable as Rs 1515. Just imagine the increase 2 & 1/2 times.
It's a logical phenomenon that privilege once provided should not be withdrawn.
I feel it is a genuine appeal of the seniors. more
