I am a PhD in life sciences. My question is regarding our rights to seek information. Recently, many of us had applied to Department of Biotechnology India for a research grant that funds scientist-D position in India. They have declared a list of candidates ( their names and address). No other information was given, as to what was the cutoff, what were DBT's criteria for selection, how they score an application, etc. Even upon asking directly to the head in an email she replies that she can not provide that information.
I wonder what are our rights? Is it really confidential information that can not be shared at all or it is simply bureaucracy?

Dear friends, I received the reply to my RTI. They have provided my score and also given cut off. But they denied giving the scores of selected candidates under section 8(1j) or RTI Act 2005. Is it true, or there is a way I can challenge it? I will appreciate your inputs. more

There are several verdicts of HC to the effect quashing off the Selection. Writ is one of the good remedy more
