Design of Sitting seats in daily trains between Chennai and Bangalore (Vrindavan, Lalbagh, double decker...)

Dear Sir,

Problem:
The seats in these trains are highly uncomfortable. Congested and very less leg space. It is a challenge for the window seat person to come out.

Suggestion for a better design:

Total seats available today per bogie = 108

Alternate design:
Use the regular 3 tire sleeper class bogie with minimal changes as follows:
1. Instead of 3 tire make it two tire.
2. Lower berths including the side lower can be used as reserved seats for sitting: Sitting capacity in each bay: 4+4+1+1 = 10.
3. Two upper berths and side upper can be used as sleeper reservation: Sleeper capacity in each bay: 2+1= 3
4. Total capacity in one bay = 13
5. Total bogie capacity = (13 * 9) = 117.

With this design the seats will be more comfortable and also we can can get more capacity.

This is a humble suggestion for you to review and consider if appropriate!

Just think of journey duration > 12 hrs, you will find several problem with this idea. 1. Old/handicapped people have to go up to sleep. 2. All long journey train's passenger usually carry some luggage, if there would be 13 passenger in a 'bay' I am sure there wont be any leg space then. 3. You can think of situation 72 people sharing 4 toilets vs 113 people sharing 4 toilets. more
I think idea of Ananthachari is good option more
One of the immediate requirements is the rectification of food tables on the back of each seat which are heavy and cause injury as the locks are unreliable. more
4+4+1+1 will also be uncomfortable. It should be 3+3+1+1. Still seating will be more than present. Ananthachari more
