I am writing to Ministry of Railways for the last 4years that empty lands near the railway tracks especially in Tire 3 and 4 cities should be allotted on rent for minimum 3years to the contractors to utilise the space for growing vegetables,flowers,etc.It shall create good earning
as well as beautify the lands near the tracks which are encroached by mafia,etc . You shall appreciate
that when our International tourists visit Agra,Jaipur,Haridwar,Rishikesh,etc by AC trains,they feel bad that the lands near these stations are used
for waste plastic goods,animal dungs ,etc.By generating the income from these sources can be utilised for free toilets for the poor residents of these places.You can see a small example near New Ghaziabad station for further action. more

I know since I have lived Delhi. But its plight of vast Railway network which is difficult to look after. I am a superannuated senior executive of PSU with vast township. We with all our efforts till date are not able to get the jhugi clusters removed from our township. The major reason being active mafias and political interference. The main problem are we ourselves in what way or other. If every thing would been ok we would have not spent time in exchanging all this. It our country and more important our country men. But still some power is keeping it running. Thank God. more

Dear Mr.Malhotra, may be you are right in some way,but if some one simply visit the Tilak Bridge station on the side of Rajendra Bhawan i.e.towards Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg,you shall know the actual situation.Also in other 3 and 2 tier stations ,people are using the vacant land of railways as un-authorised small dairy and made temporary sheds for the cattles. more

Leasing out railway land along the tracks cannot be thought of since that would again mean human settlement along the tracks who would work for growing vegetables etc thereby resulting into illegal occupancy and moreover prone to fatal accidents. And then who would manage and control all these thousands of KMs. Another headache for railways which is not the core business of Railway. Please Mr Bhatia let us think of something constructive. Excuse me if I have mentioned anything wrong. more
