Chennai now where in clean cities

There is no mechanism in place to even look at what are our waste management or sanitation systems in the city. There is a complete collapse of health and sanitation management in the city. In terms of garbage management, no matter how many times or for how many years communities and city groups have been advising or asking the Corporation to decentralize the waste management practices or to do away with the landfills, to look at reduction, to look at the producer’s responsibility - none of those mechanisms have been put in place. more

It is very sad that Chennai is becoming worse day by day, because of total negligence by the Government. There is a protest everyday for one reason or the other. No cleanliness, Traffic discipline, Safety of people. More thefts, rapes are reported. Only in corruption our State has gained to no.1 position. more
IN CHENNAI, WHICH GOVT DEPT IS WORKING..??.. GARBAGE IS EVERYWHERE.... AND THE ONE PARTICULAR COLLECTOR HAD EVEN THE TEMERITY TO RESPOND TO CINE ACTOR AMIR KHAN THAT " THEY HAD NO GARBAGE TO SPARE " WHEN HE HAD CONTACTED HIM FOR GARBAGE AS A RAW MATERIAL IN FOR A RECYCLING WASTE PROJECT...!!!.. ( He had stated this in his popular serial programme - 'Satyameva Jayate'.) GARBAGE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL IS RUN BY AN ORGANIZED MAFIA IN CHENNAI CORPORATION WITH TOTAL BLESSING FROM THE CONCERNED POLITICIANS. HOW WILL CHENNAI OR FOR THAT MATTER TAMIL NADU - PROGRESS..??.. more
In Trichy it is working nicely. Earlier we did not know even the commissioner. Now we know the inspectors and cleaners even. If it is not working in your area, it may be due to persons in the locality who like grumbling about anything more
Your solution asks for rules & punishments. But Modi govt does most things without those measures, only in a friendly way more
Though partly I agree with Shikha the system should begin from home. The public has to be educated or stringent measures should be taken for waste mnagement by each and every home in the city of Chennai. How many people put the decomposable aqnd non-deecomposable wastes separately ? The uneducated rag pickers who spoils everything in the early morning hours should be curbed/controlled who spills the garbage on the roads to take the materials from the bag. We are far from following the rules. The corrupt officials are another big obstacle and yet it is beautiful chennai, certain things have improved let us hope for the good if not the best in coming days where an official who means business takes over in Chennai Corporation. more
DEAR THANKS WELCOME PLEASE REPLY MORE more
Yes the Health department of Chennai corporation is not functioning. There are many many places in Anna Nagar where a heap of garbage with Rats and Dogs making it worse and chennai corporation seems to go it easy way. I feel they may woke up when some epidemic breaks out. more
In Bangalore, some citizen groups are doing their bit on waste management. One of them is Hasiru Dala (https://hasirudalainnovations.com/about-us/). There are more such initiatives. You might want to seek their help. Depending on the administration is not of much use. more
Sir, Not a random suggestion. i live in Banglaore and have heard that this is working. Bangalore also has similar problems. It is upto to you whether you want to try it or not. more
are you just making a random suggestion or have you looked into if there is any mechanism or not there . am says a lot of it is in place already but yes lot needs to be done . 1are you aware the corporation has advised if waste segregation does not happen they will not pick up waste. 2 are you aware all high rise apartments segregation is at source and we give food waste in paper and not plastic all days of the week and on Tuesday and friday only we can give plastic and other non biodegradable waste and this is to be sold to the kabbbdiwala and the corporation does not take it . but yes lot needs to bee done ....... more
