charting done

It is many a time, charting is done and vacant seats not used due to system does not allow further booking. My opinion is that we are electronic array and railway must emphasis on more passenger comfort and at the same time generate revenue. I suggest that charting system must be discontinued and reservation must be allowed till train does not cross that particular station. This can be done by providing TTEs some sort of moving devices which gets updated as and when reservation is done. This will :
1. Save Huge stationery (against manual charting)
2. Passengers comfort
3. More revenue generation for railways
4. Railway staff used for charting can be used in some other activity
5. printers/cartridges used for charting can be eliminated

I further suggest if barcoding on printed/e tickets can be done. this will eliminate manual examination of tickets by TTE during examination. TTE will be having barcode scanner which can be attached in moving device. more  

Dear Manish ji, I agree with your concern about the W/L passengers. The passengers, whose tickets are not confirmed early, remain in mental tension till the day of departure. I think that some foul game is played by ticketing agent and / or Railways, otherwise there is no reason why a passenger ticket with higher W/L number, should get confirmed first. Railways authority should seriously find out the root cause of this act. I also agree that at the time of charting, SMS should invariably reach to passenger's mobile, not only about the final status of his ticket but also its coach position in the train. Regards more  
Dear Mr. Umesh I do agree with your opinion about the w/L passengers, However I would like to reflect here too also railways should look at. I would like to draw your attention that railways must take action for updating W/L position in a transparent manner. Sometime W/L No. 2 does not get cleared and sometime W/L No. 100 gets cleared. Inspite to keep passenger confused till last moment of charting for W/L passengers, my suggestion for this issue is that atleast before 4 hours of train departure from a station, the irctc should declare the status of W/L passengers through SMS/whatsapp or through any mode of communication and still keeping booking open wherever applicable. Our plan is for digital India in next few months/year. I suggest departments like Railway / Banking must use electronics & IT to the best its heights. Your suggestions are welcome. more  
Sir, I am a regular traveller in Trains to all most all places. I find that the crew change is normal in all the Divisions of Southern Railway, South Central Railways. Whereas in Bangalore Division in South Western Railway, Bangalore Division Crew is operating for the trains of Mysore Division which Originate from Mysore to Chennai and back, the crew is travelling from Bangalore to start the train from Mysore, it is very bad, why there is no crew in Mysore, why they have to come from Bangalore, I request the Union Railway Minister, discontinue this and let the crew from Mysore take over the operating the trains which belongs to Mysore Division and starts from Mysore. I am bringing this notice each and every time to the concern authorities, but no response. B.SHEKAR more  
Dear Manish, I don't agree with your suggestion pl. At present charting is normally done before 4 hrs or so (it always fluctuates +/-, I don't know why). The reason is (I presume so!!!) that a passenger may become aware of his ticket position well before he starts from his residence. Imagine the plight of a passenger who reaches at the platform with all his luggage and family members but shockingly comes to know that he can not perform the journey due to his ticket not confirmed. Had he known it well before, he would have not started from his residence. There may be cases when a large number of passengers may have to travel some 10-20 Km or even more by road to reach the station. You may kindly recall that due to this reason (again I presume!!!), the charting of those trains which depart during early morning hours, is done in the night of last day itself. We all know, that apart from the confirmed ticket passengers, Railways has also to accommodate a big number of so called "unconfirmed" ticket passengers having RAC, partially confirmed/ RAC status etc, which necessiates a big exercise between TTE and the aspiring passengers. In addition to it, if a further crowd of fully WL ticket passengers also reach the platform, with the last minute hope of their tickets, getting promoted to confirmed or RAC status, we can very well imagine what nuisance will be created at the platform????????
