Tata Sky

Tata Sky is the modern, efficient, easy to operate and courtious system. I have been dealing with them for the last more than five years and have found their services adequate and satisfactory.

In Kolkata I am more or less satisfied with Tata Sky service technically. The negetive points are: when it starts raining we cannot see anything though we go on paying for the service. You can only suspend the service for 15 days. I have to go to USA every year for 10 to 12 weeks. So I am going on paying for service which I am not using which is not fair. More over if I switch of the HD boxes while we are out of country the connection is automatically discontinued, so I have to keep them powered on in stand by mode wasting electricity!!!. This is totally against fair trade practice. I have Two HD connections at home so it becomes quite expensive. Their complain response time is reasonable but since my house hold members have different tastes I had to take their Mega Pack which is quite expensive and there are many more channels which we never watch than what we watch but have to pay for those. I tried to make a combination of channels of our own choice as per there " My Pack" rules, but the pricing is done in such a tricky manner it is not making "My Pack" any cheaper than Mega Pack ! That is the catch. So I shall rate it as good technically, but as per fair trade practice it is poor.

Tatasky is flouting the fair trade practices. As mentioned by Mr Rohit above they're charging for HD channels whereas the customer has not taken HD connection or HD set-top box. They discontinue or add channels on their own whims and fancy. Action need to be taken for it.

HD channels have been added unnecessarily, though have subscribed only to SD channels. The fact cannot be ignored that some hidden charges are being levied to the monthly subscription rate for the HD channels, though one is not subscribed to the HD channels pack.

One of the best channels of DD devoted to art and culture DD BHARATI was stopped on the usual format 2-3 months back without any information. After repeated reminders /complaints to all the the concerned the channel was re-started. after 2-3 months. The replies all along were very evasive and never to the point. The last one said that they will let me know whenever they decide etc. Then it started without any grace all of a sudden.This is not expected from a name of TATA"S. The channel remained stopped for nearly 2/3 months.
