Extremely poor condition of the roads in Mumbai! the new govt has not been able to find a proper solution to close the issues and traffic is terrible on the WEH everyday. Contractors have to be penalised for the shoddy jobs that they have been doing for years now.

Road works in Mumbai are in shambles. The general impression is that it is mostly due to high level of corruption. A thorough revamp of the procedures, e-tendering, effective supervision and post inspection by independent auditors, etc. may reduce the irregularities. The State Govt. should also exercise adequate control on the BMC in roads under their control for transparent and proper working of the procedures.

The road condition all around Mumbai, particularly in western suburbs is pathetic. For aged and people with heart problem, movement either on foot or autos or even cars is absolutely risky. The problems for pedestrians and car owners in monsoon, get worsened with absolutely undisciplined and chaotic traffic in suburbs where even a small stretch of 1 km road has 10 right turns and several adjoining lanes close by from where also the vehicles take deep right turns holding up the entire main road traffic. For example, look at the Link Road Stretch from Indian Oil Nagar (J P Road) till end turn for Mega Mall, just a 1 km distance takes 25 minutes. Absolute chaos. This shows non-application of mind by town planners at BMC and lax traffic control regulations. One really wonders what local Corporators and MLAs of different areas do and shamelessly keep seeking votes.
