When Terrorists have new Rs 2000 notes
If terrorists have new Rs 2000 notes even when citizens are struggling to get them, it means more than demonetization is required to fight terrorists. Strong Intelligence network of citizens that can compliment the formal IB needs to be cultivated and that takes time.
Actually our intelligence layout is weak because we have mostly Intelligence officers who are recruited internally on deputation. So more often than not we dont have really intelligent people around but those that can't think out of the box. Unless we learn from other nations with strong intelligence wing how and whom to recruit, the deficit will remain. Currently we bank mostly on police recruits. We have no cultivation of the citizens wing with a strong reporting and supervising wing. Reorganize, expand and optimize the intelligence framework to stop fraud, corruption and terror.

Well written Arghya. Our big chunk of police officers are more busy serving the corrupt politicians then serving the nation. You ask them to run for a 2 or 3 mile run and they even can't run a mile. Whatsoever intelligence they have is used to harass common man to extract money e.g. look at the passport thing. Until and unless you give them the money they will sit on your report. This has not changed a bit across the nation. Everybody knows this but what can you do. So, let alone the intelligence they are not even fitter for such jobs. I remember the Aaj Tak news where there was this rape case in Bulandshahar and CM was saying we have issued a red alert kind of notice across the state and police is on to it. The Aak Tak team went to different police stations across the state around mid night and most of them were found sleeping. Some of them have put a mosquito net and were sleeping inside. The hilarious part was that in one case the police station was locked and one of the policemen who was sleeping outside was asked why is that so, he replied, the fan inside the police station was stolen. Can you believe that? If the thieves/robbers can steal the fan inside a police station then what will happen to the people whom they are suppose to protect. You see we even can't deal with the basic stuff let alone the intelligence part. No doubt terrorists/naxalites are thriving in certain parts of the country. Just like the note ban we need some drastic steps to clean the whole system and this will bring some pain to everybody. The question is - Are we ready for that? more

It is good to provide weaker section some reservations to make them capable for healthy competition and Government to decide the field of work which may go on with reserved candidate but not in technical and decision making process and in health sectors. more
