Karnataka Most Corrupt per Survey

The question we have to ask ourselves is what will we do about it. 54000+ people in this circle. If we all decide to not pay bribe, will that make a difference. I have seen the surveys of local circles getting published and broadcasted. Can we raise our voice locally so more and more public becomes aware. If some one has local media contacts or family/friends, can they be invited.

Karnataka occupies the first slot in a list of states perceived to be corrupt on the basis of people's experience in paying bribes for public services, a survey conducted by an NGO has revealed. Karnataka is followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab.

Centre releases Rs 19k crore from PM's package for J&K
The Centre for Media Studies survey, which covered 20 states, found Himachal Pradesh, Kerala and Chhattisgarh to be the least corrupt. The report said around one-third of the households experienced corruption in public services at least once during the last one year in comparison to about 53% of households that admitted to paying bribes during a similar study in 2005.

The survey covered 3,000 odd persons, both in urban and rural areas. It also claimed that more than half of the respondents felt that the level of corruption had decreased in public services during the demonetisation phase of November and December 2016.

The report estimated that the total bribe paid by households across 20 states and 10 public services was Rs 6,350 crore in 2017 as against Rs 20,500 crore in 2005. However, the study indicated how a lot still remained to be done to reduce corruption in public services. more

Periodically we are stricken by the venal attitude of officials who perform their duties on quid pro quo basis. This malfeasance is encouraged by impatient service seekers. How to curb this evil is a big question. Ignorance of citizen rights and perceived fears drive us to pay bribes which are unabashedly accepted. Once the guilty are stripped of all their ill gotten gains and summarily dismissed from their jobs sends a strong message to the horde of dishonest. Presently we are still trying to figure a way out of this obnoxious practice. more
A father in the cap of politicians and bureaucrats-they stood first somewhere, got recognition. more
Very difficult to weed out corruption unless we decide not to pay. Starting from small sums for small favors upto big amounts for big favors, this continues unabated. It is not which state is No.1. All states are No.1.There is no distinction. Transparent way of operations, CCTV monitoring, all payments by electronic mode only and further periodic checks can to some extent can reduce corruption. To weed out completely, it will take years and years and probably it cannot be done. more
More than the remedy FIND the cause for corruption i feel PEOPLE of Karnataka are firstly LAZY and secondly have MORE money in their pockets to throw .Unless this mindset and attitude changes cosmetic Superficial approach will not suffice. ANYONE who demands a BRIBE should be PUBLICLY ASHAMED and subjected to STRINGENT PUNISHMENT. Just suspension will not help Who takes Bribe should be summarily DISMISSED from service with NO BENEFITS ... more
i think this NGO is playing a dirty game to make some money. Who is this NGO and for what purpose did they conduct the survey? When a survey is done it should reach maximum people from all strata of the society. You cannot just survey your family members and close friends snd publish the results. I have seen people getting data from Internet and changing the x-axis or y-axis to suit their project. Do you think this is a valid survey. How do you know the NGO has carried a real survey. If a survey has to be done for a state then 70% or above population has to be included. Random sampling of 200 or les will not give the proper results. Let the NGO publish the Survey questions on local cirles, leading nespapers like deccan Herald, Times of india, kannada dailies like udayavani, vijayakarnatak etc and then let him say result. to find out th truth let do a real survey. It should be given a wide publicity through all means social network, whatsapp, news dailies, local TV channels of karnataka etc;I have been in karnataka since my childhood but never faced any situation where I haad to py a bribe. There are thousands like me. so i cnnot accept this NGO's survey results. more
