I entirely agree with the sad plight of SHOs in the country. Police force in our country has been politicised 100% and the large majority of the lower rungs of Police force are happy to work as the private army of the political party in power in the state. In turn, the Police are allowed to be corrupt to the extent they can cover up their corrupt activities. 99% of the public have no trust in Police. The Central Govt . is also unwilling to reform the Police Force (Still guided by the 1860 Police Act enacted by the Britishers) as the Police is in the State List of the Constitution and after the drubbing it received, when it tried to implement the Police Commission recommendations from the State Govts. There is some hope from Mr.Modi as PM ,provided he gets majority in the Rajya Sabha,so that he can amend the Constitution and transfer the 'Police ' from State List to Concurrent List in the Constitution. Thereafter he can introduce basic reforms governing the statute that empower the Police, its functioning and control from sada politicians to an independant Security Commission manned by a HC judge, Home Secretary and a public figure impeccable integrity. Any suspicious movement by the strangers should be intimated to the nearest police station head by narrating his identity with full details. Any vehicle with spy cameras or suspicious speed and movement should be reported to the nearest police station without wasting time. Any suspicious fellow with armed weapons should be reported to the nearest police station. Any suspicious flying objects should be reported to the nearest police station. Don't move from your house until the rescue operation ends by the police during firing area. Please aware of the mobile phone talk by suspicious people may be reported to the nearest police station immediately. Be ware of grenade, top or mortar firing and go to the underground shell prepared by army, BSF or by self prepared. Police Armed Forces, Army and BSF staff are always with you to protect you, please trust them. more

It is high time that the most urgently required police reform is set into motion by the Govt without any further delay.The task shall be completed within the next two years. One suggestion,I have is that youngsters having aptitude for police job shall be selected once they complete tenth standard.They shall be then trained in specifically established institutions according to the different level of requirement.The total personality of the policemen or women has to undergo a revolutionary change. more

The blame game between the state & center is not the solution. After all the authorities at the helm of the affairs ( state or center ) are responsible for safety of the citizens / property etc. The issue need to be thrashed out for the best polices and reform if required to suit the Indian conditions in the interest of the country. I understand that in Japan, police dare not mis-behave with the public for the fear of being pulled up by the public as their salary is being paid out of the tax payers money. Let us built trust & confidence in each other. more
