Appreciated all responses.. will planning what to do and how to do.. will back with all necessary information soon.. more
Mr. Rajvir, see forest flora and fauna, no one plants them and no one protects them but still there are thousands of plant species flourishing itself with nature support. I believe, we can chose such a place to plant trees (before monsoon) which is a bit secluded (away from dense human population). And you will see no one would be required to fence them or to maintain/nurture them for 2-3 years. God is great, nature will protect the saplings. I think end week of this month (june) will be much more suitable to be fixed as a plantation day. By then, monsoons would have arrived and therefore, watering etc will not be required What do you say ? more
The saplings can be obtained from the forest departments nursery. Planting tree is ok we all can do that but the major task is protecting them with tree guards and maintaining them during their infancy stage for at least 2 to 3 years thereafter they can sustain. I suggest we need to identify the areas / patches, prepare pits and tree guards before onset of monsoon. This drive needs lot of efforts to make it a mass movement and obviously some funds to hire a pit digging machine (tractor mounted), manure, saplings won't cost much, for tree guards corporate houses, big or small companies can be approached for sponsoring this drive, their Add i.e. logo etc. can be painted on the metallic tree guards. I strongly recommend that the RWAS should come forward and contribute their time and a bit of fund to make it a success in their respective areas with active participation of their Councillors for the required infrastructure support from MCG / HUDA. An early representation with their respective Commissioners. I would also like to mention here that pre monsoon checking and cleaning and desilting of storm drains / sewer drains and RWH ( rain Water Harvesting pits must be completed in time to avoid water logging and recharging of groundwater. I've already mentioned to our area's councillor and submitted these points, however he accepted and shown his willingness but was bit sceptical of plantation drive. We need to act faster befor monsoon's arrival. more
K.P.Misra Dear Gaurav, Good initiative. I will join in planting trees. Tell me where to come and how to start. more
Gaurav, I am ready to join in planting trees. We can target say 100 no. of saplings which we can buy from a nursery and share the cost. You plan this event and I can actively join in finalising the varieties of fruit trees, buying etc. more
