Gurgaon Roads

I was under the impression that after Gurgaon became Gurugram, things will change. But it is same. Gram means village. In villages of India people are not concerned about roads, highways etc. But in Gurugram they are still on the old track and discuss roads, highways, toll booths etc.
They should learn from the villagers and earn profits by using the circumstances. For Gurugram best proposition is to do farming where roads existed before the rainy season and start rearing ducks in large numbers. Entire town is converted into ponds and lakes. more

Today morning I drove from Sector 23 to sector 52 Gurgaon. The general area near Kataria Chowk was looking like a river in spate. The traffic was heavy & was moving at no speed. There were couple of vehicles stranded in deep water. Police jawans were seen at many places, but they were helpless & should not be blamed for visible inefficiency. In fact this is a system failure. Management has been sleeping for years, lot of money has been used for repair & construction of roads etc. Every time it proved to be a highly substandard job done - So where has the money gone - misutilized ???. Govt is Very Prompt in issuing posting orders - A Nice Cover Up. Why shall a stage should come that Postings are issued - does not it mean Failure Of Govt Machinery. When will Govt pull up - well not in near future. Our country needs Leaders & 95% of politicians have no leadership qualities - so let us not blame these poor chaps. Irresponsible is public & they are available for sale. So Friends we must learn to live with existing conditions - OR let us bring in a CHANGE & get rid of these rotten people in the functional chain at what ever level. more
Why grouse ? Its time for roller coaster ride from Sikarnderpur metro station accross Cyber City right upto NH 8. Only when on lands at NH 8, our cars grump the arrival of civilisation. more
Background. Every year at this point of time, manmade disasters are seen all over the country. We witness, enjoy and forget rest of the year till next rainy season approaches. In the past, the concept of rain water harvesting was conceived but never implemented. With mushrooming in construction, poor town planning and negligible civic control, we find parts of town reshaping into small lakes or ponds just after a hearty downpour. Rainwater Harvesting In the present scenario. A new out of the box thinking in designing rainwater systems in the low lying areas need to be worked out. This would mean adoption of simple catchment system for storing thousands of gallons of water causing million of man hours of time presently being wasted out. In the congested townships collection system would need basic features such as. Catchment area- proper slope to the underground drainage in the low lying areas to be provided and diverted to a properly designed catchment area in the shape of a pond or a lake. Drains and gutters- proper holding containers to store water from the catchment area using pumps would need to be provided. In all buildings provision of a rain water harvesting system would need strict compliance. Filtration- suitable covers at the drainage points to remove the debris would need frequent attention. Storage tanks - Large plastic storage tanks would need to be positioned underground or on surface to store rainwater. Delivery systems - suitable system need to be designed for transferring water using high duty pumps to alternate sites for irrigation or other end use making use of natural resources.isexternal) Note. This does not absolve builders from adhering to the provision of rainwater harvesting in the large constructions. more
I fully agree with you, in one rain roads go away, as if Govt buids the road for on rains to wash off and again do the expenses to make it again. more
Dear Reader, Your comment on the article ''Annual mess draws HC ire'' is now displayed on timesofindia.com. ''Administrative machinery fails miserably to check annual mess of water logging due to rains Even half an hour of rains bring the entire traffic on roads to standstill Is it not shameful that court has to pass such comments on administrative frequent failures Why can all stake holders join and find a lasting solution rather than fire fighting and blaming one another Entire NCR may be digitally mapped, low areas be identified and water bodies be created to provide massive sinks for rain water. The water bodies thus created may be allowed to become catchment areas of water bodies. The habitation in such low areas may be relocated and these places may be developed into places of tourist interest. Multistory residential infrastructure may be created as a long term measure for relocating displaced habitation in phased manner Multiple innovative solutions may be studied and considered Each road should have green belt on both sided and center of road and its level should be lower than road level. Rain water may flow into green belts which may have plenty of rain water harvesting points along the road length at low points'' To reply to this comment , or see the whole conversation, click here.
