Dirty and leg pulling habit of bribes in Police Deptts.
It is open secret that Police Departments in many States are infested with the sorrowful attitude of bribes in 1.transfers, 2. from Business establishments, Hotels, Malls, etc as well as from hackers on the platforms.3. In dealing crime cases from filing CR/FIR to preclosure of cases as pseudo complaints,4.regular maamouls from criminals, etc. Thus it is omnipresent in the most of State Police Departments. Apart from this the influence of Political and High bureaucratic people in sensitive cases. To wipe them away GOI must first and immediately chalk out some schemes There must be some central Agency or Board to look after transfers from Rank 1 to Rank 10 below in that department, and each State must have a set up with a group of Police and IAS officials to look after the transfers from rank 11 to bottom level. To examine the corruption and other criminal cases against erring officers there must be a central Agency which will examine such cases. I hope L.C.members will agree to this. I have had interactions with the Police Departments at both higher level as also the junior level. Junior officials follow the rules but are not averse to take shortcuts where they see a chance to make some fast buck on the side. Top Officials however would not indulge in such cases with individuals. Their interest could be in corporate where they could create big problems for the name and reputation of the corporate who are on the wrong side. Anyways why would corporate want to pay bribes? Only when they have done some wrong right? So why blame cops for everything. If any LC member has had bad experience at the bottom level, have they escalated it to the higher officials? It is wrong to paint the entire Police Department and Administration in the same color. more

There is no point in blaming only police dept.In fact,all sections of the society including the general public are also more or less contributing for it.What we require in our country is value education at all level if we are interested to eliminate corruption in our country. more

Politicians (Minsters, MLAs, Legisators ....), Police, government officials are all after "plum" postings. And to get the same, money and closeness plays a key role. Nobody wants postings in small towns and villages. The reason - as mentioned by Mr. Radhakrishnan. more

Modified system of recruitment, appropriate training to handle the difficult situations, better and fearless working environment within the frame of law of the land and better salary is need of the hour for policing. But corruption and political interference is not the solution. Corruption should be uprooted in whats ever form it is prevailing and culprits should be handled with iron gloves. more
