Selfishness and unprincipled way of life are main causes of corruption. ' Somehow I want my work finished'(selfishness) and 'I am not bothered about anything else'(unprincipled). This applies mainly to politicians who are the starters of corruption, down the line upto peons and attenders. However, most of the politicians are rich and well to do persons. Then why?. It is easy to answer. Each politician has about 4000 chelas in his constituency. Each of them bring about 100 votes accounting to 4 lakh votes. Each of them have to be paid atleast Rs.10,000 per month. i.e., Rs.4 crores p.m. Hence per year it is Rs.48 crores. For 5 years, it is about 250 crores. During election, the amount be atleast half of this i.e., 125 crores. Totally Rs.375 crores. There are atleast about 10 (MLAs, MLCs,Corporators, MPs (Lokasabha and Rajyasabha) and numerous Dist., Taluk, Town civic bodies) political elected leaders in a constituency. So, it comes to Rs.3750 crores! Next, the bureaucrats - about Rs.250 crores(to round up) totalling to Rs.4000 crores per constituency. Assuming the voters in constituency to be around 10 lakhs, per head payment of bribe comes to Rs.40,000 once in 5 years. That is about Rs.700 p.m. Considering the various taxes we pay and expenses we incurr, this amount is quite small. And, the ultimate beneficiaries again are the voters who receive bribes for voting. Astonishingly, it is the voters who receive bribes, that go and vote who constitute about 50% of voters! Also, when entire political system of the country is corruption based, should we correct the system or the persons? If any country or State or a District is highest corrupt, the degree of selfishness and unprincipled people are highest in these areas. Bengaluru is the highest corrupt city in India.
