i do not think anyone in india who would have visited any govt office like tahsildar/bbmp/bmtc/bwssb/corporation etc in bangalore/karnataka can get any work done without giving any bribe.
last week two people in BDA was caught having crores of rupees in property and also cash ,property so think what other people will be having and not to leave the ministers also who are the kingpin i should say. more
Monkey Bath Modi and Dormouse Prasad have just re enacted Nehru's cimre by making the victim of extortion (the bribe giver) a criminal rather than the Government official who extorts money (or other favours such as sex) by abuse of power. This time the punishment is seven years imprisonment to deter victims from complaining more effectively.. more
Ridiculous. Actual number may be much more, but people may be scared to say, they paid bribes, due to the existence of silly laws.

Consider a hypothetical case. In case of Mr A Raja, who was alleged for accepting bribes in 2G scam, Mr Narendra Modi was the minister. Could there be any allegations, (except from low level IQ persons bringing in politics everywhere to supersede the reality)? No.

So, always it is the person in power, who demands the bribes and the needy citizen has to fall pray for it. Even to get the ration cards renewed or transferred, lower staff demands bribes. Any complaints? Not a single one, due to the foolish law in practice.

To treat the bribe related matters and to eradicate the corruption due to misuse of positions, the law must be harsh on those who demand the bribes misusing their positions, and not on those who have to pay it to get the work done.

Poor employees from private sector companies were, in a way, tortured for allegedly having paid the bribe to Mr Raja in 2G scam case. But the government does NOT see it or sees, but does NOT accept it.
