WHO CARES FOR 'SENIOR CITIZEN' IN INDIA ...

WHO CARES FOR 'SENIOR CITIZEN' IN INDIA ...

India, a '70 years Old Senior Democracy' is an amazing country for "Senior Citizens", where ...

- Govt Tax you, when you are young n working to contributing 100% for the nation building. - With Zero Social Security.

- When a citizen saves, he is again Taxed on his savings for the 2nd time. - With Zero Social/Health Security.

- Now, when a citizen Retires, he is still Taxed with Zero Social Security/Pension or rehabilitation by the Govt. - With Zero Social Security.

- Successive Govt NEVER thought of Seniors, who have NO Family support/Pension/Home/Income/Health etc., to live a dignified life, till they finally die.

- So, like Britishers, even Indian Govt wants Citizen to be CORRUPT and LOOT, wherever & whenever possible OR get ready to die hungry, as soon as, he is physically weak/handicap with no regular income.

- At current inflation rate and Cost of Living in India, who can live with Dignity in Pension Income only, which is again taxed. - Zero Support from Govt.

- How can one solve a Senior Citizen's problems of affording a House,Children Education & Marriage, Health & Illness Expenditures,Social Commitments etc., with meager income from savings? - Zero support from Govt.

Through this Circle Members, I would like to ask - When this people's elected Govt ever think of taking care of 'Senior Citizens' by providing them a TAX FREE interest/pension in their hands to manage their financial issues in the absence of any Social Support from Govt ....

Modiji, a Honest Senior Citizen is also part of "Team India"... How do you want them to survive in India with ZERO Help/Support from Govt ??? more

A very relevant question. A senior citizen can only lament but has no biting pangs and hence Governments so far have remained unconcerned for his plight. I feel pension and retirement benefits put in a FDR, or any other scheme, by a retired person for his safe and respectable future post-retirement should not be taxed at all. more
well the industrialists have good lobbyists. senior citizens have none. finance minister appears to be swayed by bureaucrats and lobbyists. on the one hand the industialists get tax deductions, though they are sitting on piles of bank money, declared as bad debts, on the other the agriculture sector gets money because they are a vote bank who cannot be neglected. however the agriculture sector deserved the boost because of bad monsoon and crippling debts of farmers. senior citizens are not useful either way-they are past the "use by date " ! more
We are paying the tax to fill the belly of Politicians who are amassing the big wealth after electing as MP,MLA,etc.Especially middle income group,Sr.Citizens including honest small businessmen are penalised by the Govt. Now the Tax payers are to protest for Miniority Quota category. more
Yes! A very SAD State of Affairs, indeed. How this Govt is PROMOTING CORRUPTION in PUBLIC LIFE by reducing Interest Rates of Senior Ctitizen's Life-line. Govt is PARTY TO 5000 Plus "Bank Loan Defaulters: of Trillions of Rupees and every year Writing-off Millions of Rupee worth NPS of Banks from Tax Payer's money ... Who cares??? more
the recent reduction in interest rates on ppf, senior citizen saving scheme etc are hitting middle class and senior citizens. the rationale for reducing the rates is bizarre, that it is one of the highest in the world. these partial comparisons, comparing what is convenient to you and forgetting about the rest is misleading. if the finance minister wants to compare, he should also compare the benefits they have free or subsidised health service, better quality of life. the middle class and seniors are sacrificial goats at the alter of industrialists, and corrupt public sector banks. these PSBs give away loans to industrialists which are now mountains of bad debts. now to attract deposits for the banks, the interest rates on small savings and seniors schemes is reduced. the moral is if one is inefficient or corrupt the govt will support you at the expense of honest citizens. it is time to petition the PM not to reduce interest on SCSS. more
