Warning to all buying hampers

I just want to warn everyone buying gift hampers. In Many of them the total MRP advertised on the hamper is less than the sum of MRP of products inside so add up
Please.

Also many of the products are close to expiry date put in these hampers so try to check.

Actually a standard should be made where all expiry dates and mrps are displayed and the legal metrology should do random checking.

Will consumer ministry take this up or like other issues fail us again? more

Your pocket may get HAMPERED by many ways: 1) A departmental store "A" had a combo offer of 10kg rice+ 10 kg branded atta+5 lit of sunflower oil in jerrycan at price 'X'. Selling price of all these items added together was less than 'X'. Price got still lowered, if one opted for poly-packs for oil instead of jerrycan. 2) The same store was once offering the same combo, but .the brand of atta was not known to me, although 'fssai' marked. Although the pack was well within its expiry date (or, best before issue date), the product was not satisfactory. It seems, the moisture level was quite high. Therefore, beware of combo offers or festival offers. Merchants have not opened their shop for charity. However, you may get 'offers' for valid reason(s): 1) almost all ice-cream brands, would have various 'offers' during winter seasons, 2)the shop may try to get rid off one or more materials for which they have got reasons for a lower sell forecast and/or expiry date approaching, 3) a manufacturer requires some excess income - more than usual, to fulfil some other financial commitment(s), and hence sold his sold at a big discount (distress sell). The store, to reduce his store/early return, 'offers' to his customer a special discount. Therefore, do not fall prey to such impulsive sell by the shops and also impulsive buying at your end. more
Many Biscuit manufacturer dispose of near expiry products by making bigger bundles and marginally changing MRP. more
Agree , but what should we doo more
It seems, gift hampers are used to dispose off old items from the stock. If such things are noticed, it should be brought to the notice of Consumer Affairs Ministry for taking suitable action. more
